Review after one year and three years: A really good investment...effective and money saving!
I am writing this review after owning these batteries for over a year: We picked up eight of these Duracell NiMH rechargeable batteries along with a charger while they were on sale. They are most often used in our Wii remotes and for that purpose, they are terrific. My kids used to burn through batteries like crazy and it irked me to have to keep buying (and keep throwing out) AA batteries. Now, we keep rotating these batteries for any application that burns through AA batteries and the money saving is huge! The charger takes about 6-8 hours for a full charge (slightly longer for the initial charge) and has color indicators to let you know whether the batteries are charging (red), charged (green) or trickle charging (blinking red). The charger we got is a 'smart' charger, which will not overcharge or damage the batteries if they are left plugged in too long. Additionally, the trickle charge function will keep your batteries fresh and fully charged until they are ready to be used. The reviewer that states the charger is a 'dumb' charger wrote their review in 2008 and based on the charger I received I can only surmise that Duracell has updated their charger and corrected that problem within the past few years. Overall, these batteries are money saving and convenient. After at least forty uses & recharges over the past year, these batteries still function as good as new. 1/2016 UPDATE: After about three years these batteries and the charger still function excellent. Four at a time stay plugged in the charger and are always fresh and still long lasting.

Great Nickel -Metal Hydride rechargeable batteries.
These have a higher charge capacity than most rechargeable batteries. Worth the cost.

Best rechargeable AAs I have found
Because of both customer and professional reviews, I bought several sets of Eneloop AA rechargeables before finally giving up. My original primary use was for my Canon Speedlight 430EX-III flash for my DSLR camera. The Eneloops (both the high-capacity 2550mAh Black and the regular 2100 mAh White) simply just are unusable effectively with my flash. When I first turn on the flash, it takes several seconds before the flash is ready. Then again after each picture it takes anywhere from 5-15 seconds to recycle so that the flash is ready for another picture. Simply unacceptable. I kept thinking maybe I'd just gotten a bad set because my experience was very different from other reviewers but I have 16 of the regulars and 8 of the high-capacitys and no luck. I tried the Duracells and there is a MASSIVE difference. The flash is ready for use in milliseconds rather than seconds, and between each picture the same. I can take several simultaneous pictures one after another and the flash keeps up - not as fast as the camera but definitely more than 1-2 pictures per second. Since then I have started using them in other devices as well and have seen similar behavior with the Duracells being far more powerful than the Eneloops. I seem to be in the minority on having bad luck with Eneloops but wanted to pass this along in case anyone else has the same experience so they won't keep buying them like I did.

Good batteries!
The batteries charge in a reasonable amount of time and they hold a charge just the same.
