Perfect Mid-Sized Workhorse—The Boos Quality Without the Bulk
I finally upgraded my old bamboo board to this Boos Chop-N-Slice maple block, and I couldn't be happier. I wanted the famous Boos quality, but the massive 2-inch blocks were just too big and heavy for my smaller apartment kitchen. This 18" x 12" x 1.25" model is the perfect compromise. Why This Board is a Winner: * Ideal Size and Weight: At 18"x12", it’s large enough to handle chopping a pile of vegetables or prepping a whole chicken, but still small enough to fit easily in my sink for cleaning and to store upright in a cabinet. At around 8 lbs, it has enough heft to stay put on the counter without sliding around, which was my biggest frustration with lighter boards. * The Butcher Block Quality: It has that beautiful, solid maple grain that Boos is known for. The 1.25" thickness feels substantial and professional. It’s reversible, which is great—I use one side strictly for produce and the other for raw meats. * Easy on Knives: My chef's knife feels fantastic on this surface. Unlike glass or plastic boards, the maple is forgiving, helping my edges stay sharp longer. The cuts close up nicely, too. * Eased Corners: It's a small detail, but the slightly rounded corners make it comfortable to lift and move without sharp edges digging into your hands. The Reality of Wood Care: * You MUST Condition It: This is the trade-off for having a quality wooden board. If you buy this and don't buy the Boos Oil/Cream, you’re doing it wrong. I oiled it three times right out of the box until it stopped absorbing the oil, and now I hit it with the cream every 3-4 weeks. This keeps it from drying out and cracking. It takes five minutes, and it's essential. * Handwash Immediately: No dishwasher, no soaking. Wipe it down right after use, rinse quickly, and dry it standing up. It's a habit you need to adopt for any good wooden board. Summary: If you love to cook but don't want a massive, 20-pound centerpiece butcher block, this Chop-N-Slice model is the perfect choice. It delivers the professional feel, stability, and knife-care benefits of a Boos Block in a practical, everyday size. Worth every penny for a piece that will last a lifetime!

Functional cutting board
Great quality, heavy chopping board for your wannabe chef friends! Do NOT dish wash this, for the love of god. One time won’t hurt it much but before you know it the thing is cracked and warped like you wouldn’t believe. Take the time to wash it by hand. Otherwise, it’s a straightforward board. The thing doesn’t chop food for you so I’m not sure what else I can review on it. It’s functional

Excellent Quality & Built to Last
This wooden cutting board was recommended by my son, and now I can see exactly why. I use it several times a week, and it has held up beautifully. As long as you follow the care instructions — cleaning it properly and keeping it dry — it feels like it will last forever. It’s very well‑made, looks great on the counter, and is incredibly durable. I’m extremely happy with it and highly recommend this brand.

Grateful
Absolutely fantastic product. I feel the quality when I use this USA made cutting board and that quality helps me prep for the perfect meal every time. This is the best cutting board I have ever owned. This wood does not damage the cutting edge of my knives, is easy to clean, and very sanitary. No microplastics here, all natural! By far one of my best purchases this year, because I just want to use the board every opportunity I get which means eating healthy and saving money from eating out. Plus, I’ve become a way better cook since owning this board due to the extra time I spent cooking! One thing I will say is that you need to oil this board regularly. The owner’s manual says to oil every month, but sometimes you need to do it maybe every three to four weeks depending on how much you use it. If it feels a tad dry, just quickly slap a little even coat on that baby and rub it in. If you properly maintain, this cutting board is built to last and will be the last one you’ll need.

I chose a career in education, not wooden cutting board maintenance.
Way, way overrated. When I had my first child I'd bathe him and then rub his little body with oil to keep his skin supple and soft. This cutting board is not my kid. Yet somehow the manufacturer seems to think this piece of glued together scraps of maple is deserving of the same kind of treatment. I did not sign up to make a career of maintaining this cutting board. And I have taken reasonable care of it. Yes, I've regularly oiled it. Yet within 2 weeks, it was warping and splitting and when that happens, it's all over. It just continues to get worse. Further, it's terribly awkward to use and clean and move and store because it's so thick and heavy. I'm at a loss as to why this cutting board needs to be so thick--and they manufacturer even thicker ones! Hopefully the thing will just split in half soon so I can toss it in the trash without guilt and buy something made from 1 piece of wood that's thinner and lighter. I do not recommend someone purchase one of these.

Wonderful product; I've used them for years! Bought a couple for family members with new kitchens; way better than plastic alternatives and much more durable!

Perfect Everyday Cutting Board for Small Jobs
I've been using this cutting board daily for the past 30 days, and it's been a solid addition to my kitchen. It's the perfect size for small jobs where I don't want to pull out a larger, heavier board. So far, there have been no cracks or warping, and it's holding up well. I've been diligent about maintaining it with mineral oil and board wax, which seems to be doing the trick. Overall, it's a decent board for everyday use, lightweight yet durable, and great for those quick prep tasks.

John Boos really does make the best cutting boards - try one and see!
We dropped plastic cutting boards at out house. No more plastic anything in the kitchen. This is a very nice size board and the quality is fantastic. You do have to oil a wooden board regularly, but those are the things you have to do if you've given up on plastic.

Been using it for 1 week and cleaning it only with cold water and the wood started to crack in 7 points. Wanted to share the pictures but don't have the option on my phone.
