I selected the EKO Mirage X 80L Motion Sensor Bin as a replacement for a previous model that, despite careful maintenance, ultimately failed due to the plastic sensor panel cover. This new bin demonstrates a clear improvement in both durability and design. The 80L capacity is highly practical for both residential and commercial settings, while the motion sensor ensures fully hands-free operation with consistent reliability. Looks like a nice sturdy bin but time will tell. There is no inner lining bucket, so any leaks from bin-juice will go straight into the bin, which in my experience has caused rusty marks to appear before, so that may be a potential flaw. There is an inner plastic hoop to fold the bin bag over so that it doesn't show on the outside of the bin, and it looks sturdy, unlike my last one which has a flimsy bit that you lifted up on each side to fold the bag over, that eventually broke. This looks to be solid. It takes 4 x AA batteries, that battery compartment is kind of hard to open with a little twist button thing, hopefully it doesn't fail. The 80L bin is really big, should fit a lot of rubbish in it. It arrived with a bit of a scratch on the front near the logo so a bit disappointed in that. Also, it is covered with the obligatory horrible labels everywhere which leave sticky marks, I've no idea why manufacturers continue to do this! Came with a "free" roll of bin bags. Very quiet mechanism, can hardly hear it opening or closing. All in all, a nice bin, could do with some design improvements. Hopefully it will last as it's not cheap!

Have had this 8 months now and cannot praise this more highly. It is intelligently built (for example the bag fitting setup carefully hides any external sign of the bag); the design is compact, discreet and tasteful, yet this takes standard 40-50L bags; the open/close mechanism is quiet, works efficiently (batteries last at least 8 months). My only suggestion is that it be easier to turn the opening mechanism off for cleaning. But this is a minor detail, this is a brilliant piece of kit

Great bin, looks smart ...batteries last a good while, good opening mechanism which is quiet. I needed a slimline bin to fit a specific space so I will say the 2 compartments are handy if you don't have space for 2 bins but they are quite small..deep enough but a small opening. No good for large families with a lot of recycling. Pizza boxes, 2l bottles..forget it. The separate containers are different colours but when a bag is put in you can't tell which is which...turns out this is an issue for teenagers so get a label maker to mark what's recycling and even then be prepared to fish out food from the recycling or paper from general waste 🙄. Ps: for size reference my hand isn't big (average woman sized I reckon)

Great kitchen bin, the sensor works well and the first few times can be a bit of a surprise when you walk past it. The stainless steel looks good. It has carry handles which makes it easier to grip when moving and reduces finger prints on the main surface. Just wish it had a filter slot like some other EKO bins, it should be standard.

The EKO Mirage X 40L bin is one of my favourite things that I have bought in 2025. Every part of this bin is so well designed, easy to use and interacts so smoothly that is actually a pleasure to use. Also, the build quality is second to none and is really rich in features and design. I'm also really impressed that they manage to get the price so low, because although they are more expensive than most bin companies, they look very impressive - and where most bins would make a room look less attractive, these bins actually make a room look more aesthetically pleasing. Also, the packaging was really good - ensuring the bin arrived safely. Delivery was very fast, too. Thanks Amazon and EKO! Five Stars!

This is such a great bin. So easy to assemble, and really hygienic. Just think your hands are full and you want to open the bin literally waive your hand over the top and it opens for a few seconds then automatically closes!! You won’t regret purchasing one ( just don’t tell the kids!!!) they love doing it.

It stopped working after some time. I tried fresh batteries and everything. Really frustrating.

一般的な足踏み式のようにペダルを踏まずに蓋が開く。 別に大した動作じゃないし、そこまで感動しないでしょう。 ...購入前までは正直そう思っていました。 届いた大きな茶色の段ボールから商品自体の化粧箱を取り出し開封、蓋裏面の電池入れに単三電池を4本装着。 ゴミ箱本体を取り出し設置。全体のシルバー感に、おお、おしゃれだなぁとまずテンションが上がり。 蓋奥側側面の電源スイッチをオンにして動作チェック。 センサー部分に手をかざすとウィーンと小さな動作音と共に蓋が開く。暫くするとウィーン、パタンも蓋が閉まる。 面白い。面白すぎる。なんて男心をくすぐるギミックだ、子どもだったら永遠に遊ぶんだろうな。どこからともなく危ないでしょ！電池が減るでしょ！いい加減やめなさい！って怒られるんだろうな、なんて思いつつ。 ...商品レビューに戻ります。 蓋裏面には消臭剤をセットできるホルダーが。専用品もあるようですが、一般的な市販のものをホルダー内部に入れるもよし、ホルダーのホールを生かして吊り下げるもよし、でしょうか。 またゴミ袋をセットするプラスチック製の内枠もありますので、安定して袋をセットすることができます。 肝心の使い勝手としては、やはりセンサーで蓋の開閉ができる点が最高です。料理している際のゴミ捨てでは特にそうですが、もうとにかく便利です。 またセンサー部分の静電式スイッチに触れることで、開けっぱなしにもできますし、すぐ閉めることもできます。 まさかゴミ箱でここまで語るとはという具合ですが、とにかく耐久性が気になるところです。 結局はモーターやセンサーを使っている訳ですので、これが機能しなければこの感動はすぐに打ち消されて怒りに変わるわけですので...笑 メーカー曰く電池持ちについては3-4人家族想定で3-4か月使用可能ということですが、こちらについても暫く使ってみてどのくらいの持ちか見ていこうと思います。 さて、自室用にあと一つ購入しようか。悩むとします。

I do not recommend it. There are constant issues with opening and closing. I tried changing the batteries, but it still glitches very often.
