Can you use an app or service to turn this on/off at preset times?

YES! Now you can! With the Nov. 1, 2016 release of the LiftMaster MyQ Home and Property Control App (ver. 3.67 for the iPhone), you can now schedule all of your remove devices to turn on and off at preset times. Best update this app has produced so far!

Can you program this switch to turn on automatically when the garage opens (similar to what the opener light does)?

Just installed mine tonight. Yes, all I had to do was press the yellow button on my garage door opener, then push the Learn button on the wall switch... DONE! Now ALL my Garage ceiling lights come on and go off with the opener light - and I can manually override it at any time. EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED!

Does it work with lights that have motion detection and or dawn to dusk opporation?

This is a timer/door opener/remote (via garage door opener remote) switch. The app does not support dawn to dusk (A feature I wish they would add) but you can set up schedules to turn on around sunset and turn off at sunrise. Since this is essentially a timer switch, I suppose you could use it to send power to a motion light between certain times but this switch itself does not function as a motion sensor. If you sync it to the garage door opener light then whatever this controls will receive power when the garage door opener light is turned on.

Does this work with the Chamberlain Myq smartphone app ?

Yes, but you need the Internet gateway also to use any of the remote units from your smartphone.
