Would this screed work well as a guide for a circular saw (for example, to cut plywood)?

I bought this to use as a general guide in my workshop, something I could always rely on to be straight and true. So, with clamps, I've used it with my portable circular saw, as the fence on a custom table saw with 16 5/8" blade (beam saw turned upside down), as a layout ruler, and much more. I did reinforce inside the hollow ends with blocks of wood so I didn't have to worry about the clamps distorting the bar.

Will it withstand heat from a propane torch ? Not for long periods of time. Will be used to serve as a barrier straight edge while torching lines

I believe it will. I wouldn't put a full blue torch flame at it for longer that a minute. The aluminum thickness feels like 1/4 inch. It is also hollow. I might think 1/4 in angle iron might be better for y o ur application, it will be heavier, but will withstand heat better. Don't get me wrong, this bon is a great tool. (as straight edge, concrete screed,) it is remarkably strong and light weight, I am just thinking the intervules of heat would warp it over time. But, it may work.

Is this supposed to have two end caps or just one? I might be missing one with my shipment....

Should have a cap on each end. I bought the set of them and they all have both ends capped.

Can you get it in an 84” length?

Apparently not. The choices are 8 ft or 6ft. My 8 ft one is beyond expectations for straightness & width constancy.
