is it good to be used as a car cam?

I've owned this Session 4 since 2015. 6 years of ownership and still going.  I have used it exclusively as a dash cam camera. I mounted it to my passenger headrest. I turn it on when Im driving. Turn it off and remove it from vehicle when vehicle is not in use. It does get hot and internal battery life is reduced to about 30 minutes, due to age. However, I power it with the charging cable to my vehicle power outlet. Camera can be operated, indefinitely, if it is plugged into a power outlet. Even if it gets really hot, it will not shut down.

As the Session's video recordings loop when filled, will this GoPro work as a dash cam?

Accepted Answer

No it's not. The integrated battery means that it will be reduced to unusable due to high heat in cars with a month. No auto record upon power means that you have to turn it on and hit "record" every time you are in a car. Additionally, you can get a very solid car cam for $60, why spend 6x more on a GoPro that is not even designed for it? I recommend the AUTO-VOX B40-C.
