Can’t beat a Stanley Knife

This remains a robust and useful knife if handled with appropriate caution. I bought a new handle to replace my misplaced (temporarily, I hope) handle that has lasted 30+years and the quality of the handle itself has not altered. However, I was disappointed with the blade guard now supplied, which is plastic rather than the metal one of yesteryear. Difficult to slip on and only partially covers the exposed blade - not that the old version didn't have similar issues, but this is marginally worse in both of these respects. It's also in black, so even more easily lost if dropped. If you must use plastic, why not something colourful and visible? (To reiterate Amazon's policy ordering as a bladed item - you will need photo ID and a date of birth will also be required and logged. I suppose I should have been flattered by the driver's scepticism that I was over 18!) Overall highly recommended - and I regard this as an irreplaceable item in my toolbox. But to be treated with respect.

I personally find these fixed blade stanley knives so much easier and safer to use than the "safety" variety, not having to juggle keeping the blade out as well as the task at hand. Easier to grip too. Just a good basic sharp blade in an easy grip handle, which contains spare blades (comes with 3), easy to swap in seconds using a Phillips screwdriver. Every workshop should have one or four! Cheap too at under £4.

Well worth the money ideal for the tool box

Blade can't be retracted as I would have expected, instead there is a small black cover for the blade which is not easy to fit onto the blade.

Genau was ich wollte. Ein Messer ohne unnötigen Schnickschnack. Keine Einziehklinge die sich ungewollt aktiviert und irgendwann kaputt geht. Einfach ein Messer. Hält ewig. Wenn ich mich damit schneide, bin ich eh selber schuld. Darum kann ich die teilweise schlechten Bewertungen nicht nachvollziehen. Man bekommt es, so wie es beschrieben steht. Man muss nur lesen können. Klare Kaufempfehlung.
