Review: Best strawberry plants I ever purchased - I live in zone 8b. I Purchased 10 roots in the spring of 2025. All 10 roots had leaves within 2 - 3 weeks and I actually harvested about 20 -30 small to medium sweet berries by August. Mind you that this was the first year. I covered the plants for the winter with row cover only, no straw or hay. A few leaves became red and a few leaves died but most of the plants leaves stayed green all winter. I now have 22 plants (12 new from runners) and I have already picked 4 cups of large sweet berries (as of April 27th) and there are many more that still need to ripen. As you can see in the image, the plant is quite healthy and the beautiful berries came from that one plant. Thank you Hand Picked Nursery! Review: All viable and growing well - These were all growing and doing very well. They came as little bare root plants in plastic. I mistakenly didn't get them out of the plastic as fast as I should but they're still doing very well. I had left the whole bag of them just sitting by the door and got busy and didn't plant him right away- 3 days later I finally got it done. They were totally fine though - The preparation had been excellent for keeping them viable.

Horrible - Stay away
Complete garbage. Out of the 10 bare roots sent, one never even leafed out. The other 9 started growing and looked pretty good initially, but as soon as they reached a certain size, they started dying off one by one in a rapid 24-hour flash-wilt. They droop flat and die overnight. They clearly lived off stored crown energy just long enough to look okay, then collapsed. I am an experienced grower and use a digital moisture meter, so I know with absolute data-certainty that this was not a watering or care issue. It is a latent root/crown fungus or vascular defect straight from the nursery. Pictured are two that died off.

Great strawberry roots and responsible seller
I received the roots in a great state. They even added an extra root. The instructions were clear and I followed them to the letter. After keeping them in the house as for a while, I planted them outside and they are thriving. I’ll most likely buy from this seller again!

Dont get the crowns wet!
Read a few bad reviews, but i went ahead and purchased anyways. The price was reasonable and I really didn't need all 10 plants to survive. They came in a small envelope that luckily I noticed got tossed on the coffee table. I was busy at the time so opened them, misted them, and put em under a grow light still in the shipped clear bag. Planted them late the next day. Definitely follow the instructions. I soaked all mines roots in a flower pot. As I planted them I wished I had let them all soaked in their own cup or container. As I pulled each one out another one would flop over touching the crown into the water. Even just a few minutes in water is detrimental-do not get the crowns wet, they turn to mush and die within minutes its no joke. All mine arrived fairly dormant and potted well 12/10 seemed to take off. Minus a few mushy leaves on the lastones planted....

Awesome!!
I'm a beginner and I know fruits are finicky. I'm so excited that these took to the soil and started thriving. I left them in the bag for a while, so I thought they would've died. They started turning pink and thick and the leaves are a healthy dark green. From here on out, if they die it's my fault. These are great.

Perfect Strawberry Plants
Placed two orders for 10 plants each for total of 20 plants. Received 22 total plants. I assume seller added one plant to each order in case one did not survive. Plants were very well packaged when received. Easy instructions for starting and followed these exactly. All plants survived very well. As little as day two there was a noticeable growth starting. In very short order all plants were sturdy and growing beyond my expectations. I highly recommend this item if you want great strawberry plants.

They’re perfect but lack of information for first timers
Product shipping came sooner than the expected date by 3 days. So a win there. They were a little tangled but no big issue. I let them soak in warm water for about an hour. Then I spent a good hour mixing sand and soil and planting them in cups (what you’ll have to do if you’re planting them in a special container). Came home the next day and they’re already all green and starting to grow except 1. But the shipper included 4 extras (I’m guessing 2 per pack, i ordered 20) so with 23 healthy ones i’m still winning. And there’s still time for the last one to grow. Overall these are great. I will update if anything changes but so far exceeded my expectations. Update: All plants are dead. Unfortunately, they don’t let you know that they need to stay indoors for weeks, so as my first time growing strawberries from bare root, i ordered a big order to make a strawberry tower. But i could not keep them indoors for weeks and they died off despite my best efforts. Not really the company’s fault, but had i known this I wouldn’t have ordered since i could not accommodate. They also do not tell you that you need 30% sand in your soil. In fact, they don’t tell you much of anything until you buy and the paper inside says “go to our website.” Why that can’t just be posted here? I don’t know.
