This is a game changer
This unit, coupled with Samsung Dex, is a game changer for me. It effectively turns your Samsung Galaxy S10+ in to a mobile office and laptop. It's genuinely very impressive. You can use your phone as a full-screen desktop replacement on a monitor, using HDMI. This unit allows you to charge your phone, connect a keyboard and mouse, and an external hard drive all at the same time. If you have a wireless keyboard and mouse, that works too (at least my Logitech kit does). Even the ethernet port works perfectly, which means you get incredibly fast network usage/downloads/updates, etc. whilst connected to the network. With Dex running on a monitor, all your normal android apps work perfectly, except inside individual windows, just like in Microsoft Windows or a Mac. So you can multitask properly. I know that's a Dex review rather than a review of this item, but it's important to explain just how good Dex is and what the use case is for this unit. Regarding this unit, it's fantastic. It's really light and is about half the size of the phone. It's very well constructed and feels tough, being made of metal rather than plastic. It looks good and it's a great price too. Considerably cheaper than the Samsung official kit. It has 3 USB 3.0 ports, a full size HDMI port which claims 4K (although I haven't test that claim), a USB C port and an Ethernet port on the end. The cable has a USB C plug on the end, which goes in to the phone. Crucially for me, the USB C plug fits perfectly in the phone, even though I have a rugged case around the phone itself. The standard Samsung USB adapter does not fit with a phone case, but this does, which means you don't have to take your phone out of the case to use it. By plugging in the USB C power to the unit, it will charge your phone as you work. Basically, I use mine as a docking station so I can travel light (no laptop), plug in at work and use my phone perfectly all day long on a full size monitor. When I'm ready to leave, I just unplug my phone and go. It's 100% charged ready for the journey home and all my files and work is right where I left it on the phone. I can continue working on the train. I promise you, it's a game changer. It's the best purchase I've made on Amazon in ages. I'm going to buy another one for home!

Excellent bit of kit (tested on Galaxy S10+)
My use for this for Samsung Dex on a Galaxy S10+. I've tried a few non-Samsung devices to use Dex, and this is the best one so far. Doesn't suffer HDMI issues whilst using ethernet port as a couple of others do. I've been using this for most of the day so far with a wireless USB keyboard and mouse, TV plugged in and using an ethernet connection, and it hasn't faltered once. Dex mode is limited 5 apps running concurrently, but it seems that this is because the phone is not on a docking station with a cooling fan, so I would presume that Samsung's own cable Dex adaptor would behave the same. The phone itself doesn't appear to be anywhere near overheating, it's barely warm. The dongle itself gets warmer than the phone, but not to a point of being concerned and the operation is fine, no lagging at all. Had a wireless USB keyboard and mouse running on it earlier which cut out several times, which it doesn't do with the official Samsung dock, however I've switched keyboard and mouse and this time there have been no problems at all, so I'd guess maybe it was interference where it was or something else not related to the dongle but to the environment it was in. Sound is output to HDMI device with no problems and picture quality is as described, I've also tested a few games in Dex using a bluetooth controller and it hasn't missed a beat. This dongle also supports fast charging for my phone, don't know how it would perform with a laptop (as I've seen other reviewers criticise other dongles for), but to be fair that's what the laptop charger is for... Phenominal value for money considering it gives the same functionality as the official Samsung dongle but for less than a third of the price.

A useful & good hub.
Used this with a Dell Inspiron PC and a 100w PSU. The hub handles my video output, charging, and USB ports requirements without complaint, and has done for a month now. I would have liked it to have a thunderbolt port and separate cable for connecting to the PC rather than the short permanent cable it has. But that's a suggested improvement rather than a complaint. It does its job just fine. I can't say I've experienced any overheating issues either. It can get slightly warm to the touch but not too hot to handle or leave near papers.

Versatile and well constructed - would buy again.
I used the device as a desktop connector for my laptop. One single USB C connection to the laptop down which travels LAN, HDMI video, wireless mouse & keyboard combo, webcam and, should I require it, power to charge the laptop from a USB C compatible 80+ watts PSU rather than the the existing one all via just one USB C connector. All for less than £30 What is there NOT to like? The build quality is good too the case is aluminium and seems to be up to the job, but the dimensions are sufficiently concise enough to tuck the hub easily out of sight which is why I make the comment below. My only issue is that I would have liked to have seen a slightly longer USB C connector cable from the hub to the PC. Overall this is an excellent piece of kit and well worth the money. Later note... I had some problems with the "Free Gift" offer and the company worked hard to set the problem right. The strength of any organisation lays in what happens when things go wrong, and these guys worked hard to rectify the problem. Good product and good service.

Very good USB C hub
Received a faulty one at first but they where nice to send me one a replacement unit. So here is my updated review: It works well with a big variety of laptops/tv ( MacBook, Chromebook, Android phone & tablet and Samsung Dex) Nice nice variety of ports 3 X USB 3.0 ports with a data transmission speed up to 5Gbps, 1 X RJ45 Ethernet Port which supports 100Mbps/10Mbps, 1 X 4K Ultra HD HDMI port, 1 X USB C port. The unit is well manufactured and feels solid to touch. It's nice and light and goes well with my laptop and fits in my bag great. I didn't have to install any drivers etc, just plugged it in and it works. Would like to see on a future update more usb-c ports, SD or micro sd slot, a slightly longer USB C connector or a detachable USB C connector.

versatile
A perfect All-in-one connectivity hub. I used this as a one-stop tool to do multiple things with just one wire coming into my laptop. Now my laptop has dual monitor display (one powered by this device, the other direct from laptops HDMI output), a high speed ethernet connection and three USB 3.0 ports for high speed connection to printer, mouse and keyboard. Best part is this device has charging capability/ I simply plug in all these external devices and my laptops charger into this device, push this device far behind my monitors and forget about it. All I have coming into my laptop is a long USB 3.0 leads that goes straight into my laptop - yes, just one wire into my laptop and I have my laptop charged and connected to the world with high speed connections. With HDMI out from my laptop I also get a dual monitor. Ideal, small and inexpensive device with so much versatility. Build quality is solid. Feels and looks solid.

A really type c hub but there are a couple of things to think about
I bought this USB Type C hub to plug in to a Dell XPS 13 to provide HDMI for an external monitor, RJ45 for gigabit ethernet and 3 USB3 sockets (mouse, keyboard, additional storage) and to charge the laptop via the PD port on the hub: ie to use it as a 1 connection docking station for the laptop. The good: the hub is very well built with a metal case and sturdy cable and connector that should mean that it provides a long life. Performance is good - there is no lag on the external monitor or the keyboard/mouse. Using external USB3 storage is quick too so it works well for the purpose I bought it for. Networking has not presented any issues. So why only 4 stars? There are some things to think about when using it: The hub uses some power so my laptop was not completely happy with the 45W Dell power adaptor (supplied with the laptop) plugged in to the hub, reporting that there wasn't enough power getting to the laptop. An upgrade to a Dell 90W adaptor fixed this. When using all the functions simultaneously, including charging the laptop, the hub gets hot. Properly hot. The metal casing is obviously the heat sink for the electronics inside but when working hard, the hub gets too hot to touch - and that is on a pretty clear desk with no papers or other stuff on or around the hub. I will certainly be keeping the space around it empty for safety purposes... A good product that I am happy to recommend.

Great tool for the current crop of laptops that charge via USB-C,
Many modern laptops have only 1 or perhaps 2 USB-C port for charging, and data... and this allows you to charge and use the device as a hub, as well as USB Ethernet bridge, and USB HDMI display.... I bought 2 of these, one of them has significant coil whine.... it works fine, but in a quiet environment it's clearly audible, while the other is silent... It would also be nice if the USB input cable was detachable, but I wouldn't mark it down for this, as it's obviously to ensure that people do not plug their laptop charger into the wrong port. Edit:- Originally I dropped 1 star for the coil whine, since I it can lead to failure in some cases, but having tested it for a while, the whine faded, and I also find that the USB-> HDMI chipset is compatible with Linux, which means this device is 100% functional with no additional drivers on Ubunu (21.10+) earlier versions not tested, but probably 20.04 will be OK... so I'm very happy with that!... Screenshot attached showing device ID's etc. Edit:- Tested today with brand new Macbook Air, and everything works, including HDMI and Ethernet... that makes this much better value than the "iDevice" equivalent.

Funktioniert! (Update: Funktioniert super!!!)
