does this product have ratchet straps one end

I recall it comes with adjustable straps that clip onto any of many grommets on the edge strip. The straps have a hook on the other end. If straps do not come with or if you need more straps, you can purchase them separately.

how big are the squares? and can the mesh be cut off easily without damaging the net?

Without taking it out of the really nice storage bag, they are about 8"x8". The mesh is sewn to the net. You probably could cut them out with an exacto type knife rather easily. But why would you? I like the mesh. It keeps small items from blowing away and it helps keep the other items very secure. This is the best cargo net available. I used it quite a bit while carrying some large and awkward items on 800 mile moves. Buy it; you won't regret it.
