Loved it !
I have liked this game a lot! It's similar to Darksiders 1 in terms of the history, characters, dungeons and enemies. But, it differs a lot to Darksiders 1 in:* This game is a lot more RPG, there are other characters that give you missions, you collect gear like boots, gauntlets, and weapons, and you choose which to use to boost your abilities (magic, strength, health, wrath, etc).* It's far less linear than DarkSiders 1, with a lot of optional dungeons that you choose to do only if you want to complete a side-quest, there are also optional-bosses that give you rewards for beating them but are not essential to the game history.* The bosses are a lot harder (Apocalyptic mode), very much like Silitha in the first game* You can create your own weapons by getting something called a "Possessed Weapon" and feeding it with lower-level weapons, those "sacrifices" make the possessed weapon stronger. You can choose to certain degree which qualities of the sacrificed weapons are inherited by the possessed, thus tailoring the weapon to your needs. If you liked the first game I recommend playing this one, and if you like RPG that would be one more reason. In total you'll need some 30-40 hours to finish this game, and 50 to platinum (it's not a difficult platinum but it's time consuming). If you buy the Limited Edition it comes with the "Crucible Pass" which is needed for 2 of the trophies, if you don't have it you can buy it from PSN Store. The game features a DLC called "Argul's Tomb" that adds 2 more dungeons to the game, the dungeons are not difficult and the DLC can be beaten in 1 hour. This DLC is visually appealing and the final boss is ... great :) and hard even when you are at level 25.

Darksiders
This game improves on the first game in every way! The first game, although a little dated now, is very fun and probably should be played for the full experience and story. However, this game does recap most of the first game so you won't be lost if just playing DS2. I loved the addition of enemies dropping items and the parkour! I've read complaints about this game being a copy of several other games such as God of War, Zelda, and Prince of Persia. While it does borrow some of the game play elements of each series, it meshes them together very well to make it's own unique and very fun experience. If you enjoyed any of those aforementioned games, then I recommend this game to you, as well. If you haven't tried any of those games, then this game is worth a shot and most likely will not disappoint. Who doesn't want to play as Death?!

Awesome, but Defective with no Help to Come
After having worked directly with the customer service folks at THQ and having posted asking for help on their forums, and now having waited more than two weeks, I feel I should share a comment with the Amazon review community.First off, this game is amazing. The graphics, gameplay, sound, acting...all of it...It's just awesome.Unfortunately, there is a bug that causes some players (others have reported the same issue) to not receive a mission critical item (the Soul Splitter) and prevent the game from progressing.THQ's response has been to restart and try again. Since they have opted for a save system that does not allow you to go back a short time in your progress, you are left with no option other than to simply start over and ___hope___ you don't get the same error. No fix, no help...just cross your fingers.Well, after 25+ hours invested and no way to know if the exact same thing would happen again, I am now going to have to just eat the $60 I spent on the game. It's not like you can get your money back. The truth is, I don't really want my money back. I want a solution so that I can pick up the action from where I got stuck and keep playing.Anyway, if you are willing to roll the dice, then go ahead and play this otherwise amazing game. If, however you are like me and think that a company should not profit from selling _known defective goods and refusing to fix them_ then stay away from this and all THQ games (I was looking at Saints Row next...not anymore).

I only have one complaint and it is a big one
The Bad: When you play a game you need to be able to have several save files. You start a profile and then from beginning to end the game saves automatically. There was one part that I thought was so awesome I wanted to watch it again so I literally just turned the system off....it still saved. The game just has so many great boss fights that you should be able to save right before and go back to fight them anytime you want. The manual should have had more information on what some of the stats mean. You either have to look it up online or figure it out as you play. The great:Weapons, weapons, and weapons. You have so many options. You can carry different scythes as opposed to one primary weapon in the first Darksiders. You can also choose a secondary weapon raging from claws to hammers and clubs. You can change you armor to change your stats. Just pause if need to change armor for more magic defense (resistance.) Equipment changes stats (def, resistance, arcane (magic power), health and wrath regen options, increased chance of items after killing enemies, increased experience.)I like them bringing in a level system. I never really liked the concept of putting you're experience into leveling up your weapon. The skill tree is nice. You can pick and choose you abilities and if you get tired of it, you can go see Vulgrim to reset them and reassign your points as much as you want. The wrath system is much better. You don't have to work as hard to accumulate wrath and if you have trouble attacking you still have the option of using wrath potions (think of an ether from Final Fantasy series). The controls can be kind of annoying because when you're fighting you might accidentally use your potions because you're so used to using the D pad controls to switch secondary weapons. The fighting system is just as good as the first. I actually like it better because I like Death being able to jump and flip around rather than just dash like War. It plays a lot like Prince of Persia. (If you've played it you will occasionally die because you use a different button for wall running.)The awesome: New game+ I haven't played many newer games to see how much of a comeback it's made but it automatically made me think of the hours I would spend playing Chrono Trigger. If you don't know what that means it basically means you start a new game with the same stats and weapons that you just beat the game with. Then something I thought was pretty neat was that as you changed your equipment it changed on the actual character and each piece had things that made it unique. The storyline is pretty good. I think a lot of people complain about the story because even though the goal is the same you end up going about it in a different way. Some of the fights are kind of disappointing. The last boss was nowhere near as hard as he should have been. I beat him on the first round when there were others that I got killed by several times. If they remade it with a save system like the first Darksiders, this game would be near perfect. It breaks the heart to know that if you want to fight an epic boss fight again you have to play through to get to them again.

Great game but...
Played Darksiders I and got stuck at a boss fight in the middle. Loved the II - great graphics, game play, story line, puzzles, etc. But again got stuck at a boss fight - getting killed over and over is no fun, even on the easy level, and makes the game repetitive and boring. I know I should have sharpened my skills; but I simply don't have all the time to do that. So one star off for being "too difficult" for the casual gamers - wish there is a way to bypass certain boss fight with some trade-offs.

This Game Did Not Get The Attention It Deserved
I loved this game. I shouldn't have though. It doesn't do anything new or exciting - but what it does, it does very, very well. There are no groundbreaking controller schemes, input methods (quick time events, for example) or gameplay ideas and usually this would cause me to ignore a game. Which is what I did. Until I got Darksiders for free. It took a while but I got hooked, finished it and immediately ordered this one. The first game, for me, played as a God of War clone: lots of enemies on screen, lots of hacking & slashing. And puzzle solving too. DS2, is a hybrid (in my eyes) of the Prince of Persia games (wall running), God of War (arena-like combat with tons of enemies big and small) and even a sprinkling of RPG's as you can level certain weapons, etc. Here's hoping that there are 2 more Darksiders titles even though THQ/Vigil has now been dissolved!

Zelda by way of '90s Image comics
In Darksiders 2, you take the role of Death, who bears a striking resemblance to Skeletor. Here, Death tries to resurrect mankind after the events of the previous Darksiders. Instead of simply repeating the structure of the original Darksiders, it appears the creators of Darksiders 2 made an attempt to veer away from the Zelda format into a slightly more RPG and dungeon-crawler-eque direction meaning that each enemy drops loot and random clothing items for your character to pick up and equip. However, the problem with this type of item gathering is that the game needs to have a system that clearly, and unambigously notifies the user whether the newly aquired armor/weapon/relic is objectively better than the one's already equipped. For example, each weapon and piece of armor has stats like strength, critical chance, critical damage, elemental damage, etc. But for the purposes of the game it is difficult to tell if high strength is as important as high damage, or whether critical damage is as important as arcane points or thorns. In terms of story structure, rather than just basically being Zelda, Darksiders 2 is basically just a bunch of Zelda dungeons broken up initially by horsing around the landscape and then fast-traveling. However, for all those who value for money this game is a very long game. I beat the game after about 25 hours, including several of the side-quests but it felt waaaay longer than that. Mostly because it has an incredibly tedious game plot where you have exactly one goal that never really changes, but instead puts a bunch barriers consisting of fetch quests every step along the way that requires you to gather three of something from the local dungeon. For some reason it's always three of something. In fact, often you'll be asked to gather three of something while already searching for three of something that you are already looking for. Talk about repetitive. I'm not going to get into the actual plot of the game, as it was seemingly taken from old issues of '90's era Image comics. (Spawn in particular). In terms of gameplay, I think the controller set-up requires you to hold down too many buttons, and the camera needs a lot of improvement. Additionally, the quick select system wasn't particularly quick nor did it help me select. Too often I would accidentally select reaper mode intending to select something else. Finally, for a game that requires a lot of platforming, the controls simply are not responsive enough, especially in certain sections where you are timed. Too often while holding left or right, the character will simply jump up.Overall, the game was fun and despite my complaints about the overly-padded nature of the game and less than stellar combat camera and controls, I would recommend this game for those who enjoy a lot of puzzle solving and platforming.

Excellent item
I bought this game because I own & have beaten Darksiders. In Darksiders 2 you play as Death The Horseman, which is Awesome. Instead of having 3 weapons like War did in Darksiders you can have 21 different primary weapons (Scythes) & 21 different secondary weapons, which can be anything that you collect either buy finding them in chests or purchasing them. I've found Hammers, Axes, Mases & so many more kinds of weapons. In the game you have Dual Wielding, which means that you fight with a pair of blades at the same time, except for the Heavy weapons. There's even Possessed Weapons that grow more powerful by devouring other items you collect in your Inventory. Death levels up in the game by completing Tasks ( Side & Main) & also through battling, he gains experience points. I could go on all day telling on how truly Awesome this game is. I do like this game much more than Darksiders, I think it's a better game from the previous one.
