A very pretty gyroscope! I bought this for my children and, while it's a little fiddly to wrap and pull the string, it works well and looks great doing it. The ring-pull makes it easier and it's fine once you've got the hang of it, but I think smaller children would struggle a bit. The stand, however, is shorter than the diameter of the gyroscope, so we couldn't use it to demonstrate the gyroscope balanced horizontally off it; it just rests on the table/surface instead. It's obviously fine for balancing vertically on top, but if the little stand were a bit taller that would be perfect!

As the spindle became loose after only 5 minutes of play it created a vibration which made the gyroscope pretty much useless. The string which winds around the spindle, was difficult for young fingers to manipulate and wind. It was also nigh on impossible to hold the gyroscope when generating the spin force without the gyro from slipping out of your grasp..

it vibrates very much and makes sounds louder than many phones. but what can you expect for this price

As A child, I had a Gyroscope bought for me by an uncle. I spent hours with it experimenting with the different angles etc. By comparison this is cheap and nasty, it looks okay and that is where my praise ends! It is very light in weight, including the flywheel, therefore it will barley last 15 seconds before it falls off the stand, it will not perform any movements beyond upright and it vibrates on the stand which adds to the short spin cycle. I bought it for a nephew as a stocking filler hoping it would peak his interest in science, but his interest lasted little beyond 15 minutes. Avoid!

Fantastic quality and very weighty! Looks very pretty and classy on a desk. It's tricky to get the skill to spin it and I expected the middle part to rotate in a diagonal direction which it doesn't but other than that I'm happy with it, especially how good the quality is.

I had lots of fun and I could believe the angles that this gyro can keep for many seconds withou falling. Sadly the falls will eventually occur when the gyro slows down. And in spite it is from metal it will eventually break. The rope breaks first, and it is not easy to get a similar one, so i think there should be one or two spare ropes added.

The principal axis rod provided for spinning was quite strong, and it spins smoothly on the axis with very less friction. Therefore, it spins stably for a longer time period. If the hole meant for the insertion of the thread is given little below, ie very near to the spinning wheel, then the spin time would increase much further
