Ah, I can't get enough of this little book. Gag's delightful art, and wonderful humor make this an exceptional book for the young and old alike.

Wonderful story! As an elementary teacher, I read this story to my students twice each year. It has a place in our society that is so full of misogyny. This is a must read for any age.

This is one of the best children's books I have found, my own 3 girls LOVED it! It is hilarious, with great sketches, as well as addressing an all-too-common social theme...enjoy!

I was already a big fan of Wanda Gag, having memories of reading her Millions of Cats and The Funny Thing as a child. Now I'm collecting her other stories, mostly the reprints put out by the Univ. of Minnesota Press, all very crisp and attractively done. Gone is Gone, like the others, is full of her unique black&white, folkish art, simply, humorously, and unforgetably drawn. FYI: Unlike her other stories, this book is a pocket size, about 4.5 by 6.5 inches--something you can't tell by the pictures.

I read this to my children for years. It never lost its flavor. We laughed as much the last time as the first. and 30 years later, it remains one of our favorite evening snuggle-up-and-read-a-story memories.

I read this story to my daughter 30 years ago and was thrilled to see it back in print so I can read it to my granddaughter. I should have read the previous reviews, though, because I was surprised and disappointed by its size...not much bigger than a 4x6 photo. As a consequence, the print and the beautiful illustrations are also tiny. I will keep my eyes open for a larger edition.

I had this book as a child and liked it so bought this. The story is funny ans the black and white illustrations are beautiful and also funny. A great story with a good message about a husband learning the hard way how much work it takes his wife to look after the baby, house and animals

Old fashioned moral tale, told as a children's story. My husband received it as a child 70 years ago and still loves it, as do our grandchildren
