A Review Written From the Sublime Comfort of the NOUHAUS Ergo3D
The headline certainly reveals my thoughts on this chair so I will give my "too long; didn't read" version right below, but I will also go into some more depth below that for those of you more discriminating readers. TL;DR - Supremely comfortable, build quality is excellent, very easy to put together (10-15mins max), great range of adjustability/range of motion, total game-changer for anyone who spends a lot of time sitting at a computer, etc. I have absolutely no regrets spending $300 on this chair. Full version: Firstly, let me point out that I RARELY write reviews for products. I can probably count the number of product reviews I have written on one hand. That's not because I don't like taking the time to support businesses that make good products, it's mainly because it's pretty hard to exceed my expectations and most products just meet expectations by doing what exactly what I wanted, no more and no less. My expectations for this chair were, naturally, pretty high considering the price tag but I frankly did not expect to be this satisfied and amazed at the difference any chair could make. As someone who is now working from home until further notice during the present COVID outbreak of 2020, I needed something better than what I had and this chair is an absolute game-changer in that regard. Here are my thoughts in summar: 1) Comes well packaged and with well-written, simple instructions which make it very easy to put together (10-15 minutes max) 2) Build quality is excellent. All the parts that should be metal/reinforced are and even the plastic parts that need to be plastic for lightness are of good quality. One more specific thing I noticed that goes to the quality of the parts is that the hardware included comes with pre-applied loctite thread locker (which is essentially a paste on the bolts which help keep them from coming loose over time after installation). In and of itself it isn't that important and is far from necessary on parts like chairs that live a pretty easy life (as opposed to, say, suspension components on vehicles, for example, which usually require loctite). HOWEVER, it's not common on products like this and it is a nice touch that I think suggests more attention to detail/quality for this product. It also shows that NOUHAUS isn't necessarily trying to cut costs wherever they can. 3) It is supremely comfortable! At first I had doubts about the mesh material used for the seat and back of the chair, compared to the more traditional cushion style, but after spending several hours straight without moving at all in this chair during work I can report it is all-around great. The fact I can sit in it that long without moving at all to adjust speaks to that point because I have to do that every so often when sitting in inferior chairs. The range of adjustability and movement of the chair to allow reclining and really any sitting style is impressive as well. Overall I'm completely pleased with the purchase and don't regret spending so much money on this chair whatsoever (currently priced at $300). I'm glad I treated myself to this thing and the only thoughts I have now are why the hell I didn't get something like this sooner to take better care of myself!

Great Chair & Great Customer Support
I bought this chair on a great Black Friday deal. After not being able to repair an old one, this chair closely matched one I had been using for over 12 years. I wanted another mesh seat and back so this one looked good. When it arrived, I was amazed at the quality and style. It really is so comfortable with the lumbar support and adjustable arm rests. I did run into one slight issue as the screw set needed to assemble the chair was missing from the box. I contacted the seller who immediately said they would send them. The seller was awesome the entire time and other than having to wait to assemble the chair, I knew I wanted to keep it. The other great thing about this chair is that it comes with two different type sets of wheels. I like what they call the blade wheels as they are best on my solid surface floors but the second set would work well on carpet. It gives you the selection and choice. It was easy to assemble with good instructions. I am in my 70's and was able to put it together myself in about 15 minutes although if I had help, it would have been easier for me as the chair parts have some weight due to its durable quality. If you have to sit in an office chair all day long, this is the chair you'll want.

Well worth the money
**UPDATE** Today (10/06/2020) the back of the chair failed. The travel distance of the back rest is roughly 1". This makes it very uncomfortable to sit in. I've checked all the options and I'm unable to get it back to how it previously was. I'm going to check with the seller to see if there is anything we can do to resolve the issue. Let me start by saying that I would typically never spend this kind of money on a chair but I'm glad that I did. I'm not only a software developer but an artist and Twitch streamer as well so the amount of time sitting at my desk is quite substantial. With that said there are a few improvements to the chair that would really make it stand out enough for me to order more and to suggest to my friends, family and viewers. Let's start with some of the things that I would change. First off the arm rests do have a vertical lock but the adjustments to rotate the angle of the pads and the pad placement toward and away from the body while nice do not lock at all. I've found that getting up for a break often have to adjust the arm rest(s) almost each time I return. As for the material it would have been nice to see some gel or memory foam covers added to the contents of the package to show the company going a step above. As of now the arm supports are a harder and slightly padded but the construction is very durable. As for the comfort of the chair it is pretty good for someone 5'10" and a 160 lbs. I do wish that the chair went down just a little bit more vertically as it places pressure right around the outside base of my pants pockets. The mesh fabric is a nice change from the solid chairs that I'm used to and keeps me comfortable throughout the day. I would like to see better access for the controls and better placement too. Right now you have to lean back and look over the back of the arm rest to try to read the labels. Moving the controls more to the front would help avoid any strain. The base is solid and I was really happy to see this but the roller blade wheels? How have I lived without these on my other office chairs!? In my opinion (while they are not worth the cost of the chair) they beat the old caster wheels that would become broken or dirty over time and just not work. Something I would really like to see for creative types, streamers, etc. may be a headrest cover with the NOUHAUS logo, a few little perks like the arm rest pads I suggested earlier and better placement of the chair controls. Overall this is a really solid chair for the money and it looks great in my home office / studio. Most likely I'll pick up another after comparing this to the DX Racer line.

Sits higher but is more comfortable than gaming chairs
Pretty nice chair! Better than gaming chairs for sure. Does sit higher than I am used to but it feels nice!

High quality
I changed the review from a four to a three star. The person that I bought this for loves the chair. I decided to try it for a day and find that about 5 inches of the seat is unusable. I sat with my back firmly placed up against the lumbar support and my thighs are mostly unsupported. This is because about five inches of the rear of the seat bottom you can’t get to. I sat down as far to the rear that I can. I then placed a yellow towel where my bottom touched the seat. The entire area of the seat where you see the towel is unusable space. If I was able to sit back that far it would be great. This chair is very high quality. The base is a single-cast metal piece rather than the plastic of most other chairs. It looks like polished aluminum, though I'm not positive what metal it is. The chair is very comfortable and fairly supportive. Let me say why I say 'fairly.' The headrest is adjustable; however, it's not adjustable toward you. it's adjustable up and down and the angle. So, it's only good if you're lying back. It doesn't even touch your head if you're sitting up straight. Leaning back, I find that there isn't enough resistance, even with the dial as tight as I can make it. I can only use it if the back is locked into position. it would be nice to lean back, but it just keeps going. For this price, I would expect the seat angle and the lumbar to be adjustable. They are not. It's a very nice chair, and I'm happy 'enough' with it. It could have been awesome.

So happy with my chair!
*Update after 2 weeks: I still love the chair but those arm rests though! I took them off. I hate them. They don't stay put since they're horizontally adjustable (I hope that makes sense!). Even trying to push the chair by the arm rest itself will move them out of position. My chair is on a really plush, high pile carpet and there's already resistance when you try to move the chair but, even still, they will move no matter what you do. Just leaning on them while sitting in the chair will move them. You have to move the chair by anything BUT the arm rest. This is such a 1st world problem but it's annoying. Admittedly, I don't know if you can tighten them so they stay put but I couldn't be bothered to check since I hate arm rests anyway. That being said, I am still in love with my chair and the original review below still stands.* I don't know why I waited so long to buy a decent chair. I have Degenerative Disc Disease which makes extended anything potentially painful. I work from home as I have since before the pandemic and I've been using a pretty, clear acrylic chair that I loved only for how it looked. I'm so very over it. The Nouhaus chair and 2 others kept popping up in practically every review I read online as the "budget" choice (I don't consider $350 "budget" - $35 is "budget"). However, a Herman Miller chair was never considered so this is my "high-ish end". Everything is relative! The other 2 chairs I kept seeing were a little cheaper but each only recline to 120° while this one reclines to 135°. If you don't have DDD, 15° isn't much and probably wouldn't matter. But if you do?? That 15° can make all the difference in the world. The chair was insanely easy to put together. Everything was clearly labeled and the instructions were straight forward. Then I got to sit in it. You can tweak the chair to fit you almost perfectly. At least I could. The lumbar support hits me just right (I'm 5'8"). The headrest is adjustable. The seat reclines and rocks so as I don't feel like I'll go over backwards while reclining the full 135° (you can loosen/tighten the resistance for when the chair reclines). It is so light yet feels solid. It's definitely alien looking (they all are). It only comes in black but that's ok. I gave up caring that it wasn't as pretty as my other chair as soon as I sat down in it. Now, I don't mind when I get stuck in my office for hours on end, unable to get up from my desk. The only thing I'm not big on are the arm rests. But I don't like arm rests to begin with. I can always take them off. I'm in love with my new boyfriend, er, um, I mean my new chair.

Generic AF! Extremely uncomfortable seat. Hard to adjust. Overpriced.
I have had this chair for about a year now. The seller offered an extra 1 year warranty with registration, but the registration form on their website d8dnt work, and contacting the company, I got a reply after a couple days, stating they are still implementing it. After a couple months, I didn't care about extending the warranty anymore, because I'll be damned if I am going to sit on this crappy chair for three long, terribly uncomfortable years! Honestly, this chair really sucks. It seemed okay at first, but I rapidly became disenchanted. Starting with the seat... The design sucks. It has insufficient padding at the edges, is too narrow for all but anorexic Chinese midgets. Honestly! I had to buy a seat pad to make it tolerable. The lumbar support is not adjustable, and does not provide good support. Reclined, the seat does not dip down. Only the back does, and the hinge point makes to form a large gap with the seat, which cannot be adjusted foreward or back. The arm rests and head rest adjust so absurdly easily that they are just annoying - oh yeah, and reclined, the arm rests are uncomfortably far forward. Adjusting seat tension is nearly impossible as you have to turn the extremely resistant to turning knob, placed in an extremely difficult position, seemingly 30,000 turns! I spent weeks slowly tightening it up more and more, as the angle and resistance made it painful for my wrists! Let's see... Did I miss anything? Honestly. If there were any more negatives to this chair, the seller should be sued for fraud, as this isn't so much a chair as a torture device. Oh, i know... I discovered there are other sellers, each with a unique brand, and nearly identical packaging (according to photos from customers) selling this exact same utter garbage chair, and naturally, ALL of them sell this piece of garbage for less, but regardless, in all cases, none are worth the purchase price! So, for those who want a pro con list .. here you go. Pros: 1: It's somewhat better quality than many desk chairs under $200. 2: it's so uncomfortable to sit on, that it forms motivation to purchase a stand up desk (which I did!). Cons: 1: That some slimt, vile, money grubbing con-srtidt their ever made this piece of crsp. 2: ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING ELSE! Bottom line. If you are like me, and need an office chair urgently, because you just spent $5000+ on a new high end PC, but know from experience to never shop for desk chairs at Ikea, Office Depot, OfficeMax, Home Depot, Lowes, Costco, etc., well, my strongest advice is to NOT BUY THIS CHAIR! In fact, I highly advise verifying the legitimacy of the brand. but be aware, there just aren't any good chairs made that fall under about $800. Actually, though there are a myriad of fake brands of chairs (and absolutely everything else) utterly overrunning Amazon, etc. there are few true, quality office chair manufacturers - that is to say major brands of office furnishings, such as desks, chairs, cubicles, etc., generally sell through dealers, and generally direct as well, and through their dealer and service networks, they offer after sale support beyond measure. Something fake, fly-by-night, fake brands such as this one never offer, and would be impossible to do so at this low price point. However, even taken with the knowledge this chair would be trash within a year when a new Hawthorn Fern in Baltic Blue with the three available options, aluminum base, forward tilt and extra lumber adjustment, added, arrives, and this crappy Nouhaus garbage can be destroyed before it tortures someone else's back!

BEST. OFFICE. CHAIR. EVER.
Disclaimer: everyone has different physical needs and ideas of comfort so please understand that reviews for an item such as this can and will vary. I fricking love this chair. It was so easy to put it together. My boyfriend was able to assemble it in maybe ten minutes. This thing effortlessly rolls over the carpet underneath it and underneath my desk (I didn’t even know there were rollerblade wheels for office chairs...now I can never use regular wheels again). The quality is nothing short of amazing in my opinion and the product is everything I had hoped for. Quality like this usually costs at least double. I searched and searched for a quality, comfortable, and supporting chair. I almost caved and got a gaming chair (the price point for which is comparable in most cases), but they didn’t seem to have that much in the way of adjustments for comfort and definitely not the lumbar support I was looking for. But THIS family owned company hit it right on the head. I love that the lumbar support is adjustable and so it the head/neck rest (the armrests are too). I can sit all the way back in this chair and my back is completely supported. I use it in my home office and am at my desk for at least 8.5 hours per day; no more back pains (or butt pain) after sitting for a while. I get and move around because it’s good for you, but not because I HAVE to in order to get relief anymore. I wasn’t sure if I’d like the mesh seat of the chair (I am typically not a fan of those), but, and remember this is coming from someone who doesn’t usually like those, I have zero complaints about it and it has not seemed to negatively impact my comfort. My boyfriend didn’t like the chair when and had everything to say about it....until it came and he got used to (and comfortable might I add) using it at his desk (despite already having a cheap Walmart desk chair) before we got my home office set up. Now my chair is in my office and he’s back to using his el cheapo chair; now he misses mine. 😂
