Does the job. I use this to cut out some of the distant aviation band scanner traffic and emphasize the nearby. And, it’s nice and compact.

Bought these for my UV-5R and my soon to arrive GMRS-9R to use at work as to not damage their stock antennas. Using it with my 5R over the matter of a few weeks, its a really nice antenna. I'm not a radio expert, but for general use they work well. Reception is quite well, so long as there aren't too many obstructions. Transmission is shockingly good too. Range is a bit less than my stock antenna, but enough I can get through to my coworkers from our concrete warehouse. Durability is good too. I've bumped them into things countless times and they hold up well.

Good little antennas that are very flexible. I had to use super glue on one of them to anchor the rubber cove to the base because it would pop off the base if flexed too far and this could allow dirt and dust to get inside. I seem to get good distance too, I was able to work a repeater from about 12 miles out on 2 meters with it and for a 2.5 inch antenna, that's pretty good!

My testing showed that this BingFu stubby is superior to the Nagoya NA-810 on UHF... substantially better. However, on VHF the Nagoya 810 is slightly better than the BingFul stubby.... with emphasis on the word "slightly". The difference between the two on VHF is very difficult to measure since they are so close in performance. One other thing to note is the build quality. The BingFu stubby wins hands-down in this category. BingFu has found a glue that bonds not only the base of the antenna to the cover but the windings as well. To examine the BingFu, I had to completely destroy the antenna to get it apart, where as the Nagoya cover comes right off with no effort.

The antenna is soft and flexible, and works, but as I expected it might, it kills the range. I struggled getting signals at the front of long caravans. I typically run toward the rear because I have the biggest jeep. I kept my radio in a cup holder and the long, stiffer antenna was in the way. I've since worked out another solution where the radio is now out of my way.
