Since this is a "Travel" game, can all pieces be stored under the plastic lid? Does the lid stay securely in place when packed for air travel?

Yes, and yes. This particular game is slightly different than other SmartGames travel games in that you have to make sure to protect the acorn pieces as you close the lid, but it is built for travel. Thanks!
