Got this peeler for a coworker to show her how great it works. We love ours.

My wife found these at a home show years ago. She keeps three in our kitchen drawer so she's never without a clean one, and gives them as gifts to people who like to cook. To say she's obsessed with the peelers is to put it mildly. Great for peeling any veggie or fruit, even hard to peel ones like butternut squash or mangoes. You have to hand wash this and dry it, or it will rust over time. The rust comes off, though, if you use steel wool. We use ours every day, several times a day, and they last well over two years. We've had a couple break on us, so we just go to our stash and get another one. Definitely the best peeler you can buy, and better performing than the similar-looking ones that you find at the box stores. This is the only brand you'll want to get.

I’m left handed and have been using this type of peeler for a good 20+ years. The one I’m replacing looks like the one in the description. It’s easily 10 yrs old and has peeled everything from lemon rinds to cut for zest, squashes, eggplants, carrots, potatoes, peaches, mangoes, apples, and even green Florida Avocados with ease right up to the end. The blade was as sharp as when I got it but the little pin that swivels the blade fatigued and finally broke. I bought the one in the picture as it was identical to the one I broke. What I got was a piece of junk that couldn’t peel an apple without exerting some pressure on the blade. It’s going back. Here’s what is pictured, here’s what I received. Don’t waste your money. Go for the Swiss one and you’ll have it for years.

This rex peeler is awesome and so is the seller. I bought 3 at first then later the same day I decided to order 3 more, just in case they were really as good as many of the reviewers have been saying. The first set of 3 arrived about a week later and 2 days later still nothing on the second set of 3 that I ordered, so I decided to contact seller and make sure they realized I ordered twice in the same day and the same amount. They contacted me and assured me they would check into it. The following day the second set arrived and I got on here right away to let seller know , but he had already shipped out three more. So when those 3 arrived I wanted to pay for them, and I am still going to see if I can some how pay for them, but that was so awesome that he just mailed more and did not even wait a few extra days to see if the other ones would arrive. With so many dishonest people out there today, it is good to see there are still honest ones out there as well. A special "Thanks " to the seller" ***** for the seller". I wish I knew how to put little smiley face on here. The peelers are so easy to use, they just glide right over the top of the potato or carrot without wasteing any of the potato or carrot. I have given some of the peelers away. I have shouwed these to some people they could not get how easy they are to use. If you suffer from hand problems and still have or want to peel your own potatoes, well this peeler is for you. At this price you can't go wrong, even shipping is really cheap, they give discount on shipping if you buy more than one, I ordered 3 and shipping was $3. so it worked out to be $1. for shipping for each knife WOW. I have had mine now for about 2 months. People say do not put them in to dish washer, oooops, I have a couple times now and they are still in perfect condition. I do how ever mostly just rinse it off, dry it and put it away as soon as I am done using it.

Good quality, relatively easy to clean (easier if put in dishwasher), and is an easy way of peeling vegetables. It only got four stars because although the main part of the body is aluminium, the bolts holding it together are some kind of steel, and tend to rust quite easily. Not a big structural problem, but it does make the product look untidy. Not a big problem (more my problem than anything: i should have dried it off quicker), but something to keep in mind. Apart from that minor niggle, it does what it says on the tin! Would buy again!

I have had one of these peelers for more than 10 years now. My brother brought it back from Switzerland for me. They peel virtually everything. I regularly use it for carrots, apples, and potatoes. It also works well for tougher skinned vegetables like butternut squash. Most peelers can't handle a butternut squash, but the carbon steel blade of these works very well, and they are constructed to be sturdy enough to handle the job. I bought new ones so that I had a backup for my old one and I wanted one for my neighbor because she didn't have anything that would peel a butternut squash. The only negative of this peeler is that you should only hand wash it and dry the blade off soon after washing. Leaving the blade wet will cause it to rust, which can be cleaned off with a scouring pad if necessary. With the proper care this peeler will last many years.

I should have read the reviews first... I didn't even get to use it because I wanted to wash it first. With kids, work and school I simply don't have the time to do a lot of tasks when I have a machine that will do it for me. I threw it in with the dishes because I wanted to sanitize it before using it for the first time. Came out with obvious rusting all over the blade, even cracked the blade a bit. Pretty disappointing. I know it's a quality product and can cut like no other but honestly I wish a warning not to clean it in a dishwasher was a little more obvious.

Before getting this peeler I'd go through a peeler a year, and those things can be expensive! I think typical peelers run around $10 or more, and they're not all that easy to use. In addition, other peelers are heavy so it gets tiring to use it on more than just one thing. With this one I can peel a whole bag of potatoes and it won't hurt my wrist (although I don't enjoy peeling potatoes still). Don't waste your money on other peelers. This type of peeler works much easier than other peelers I've used, and is always much less expensive. You can sometimes pick these up for $5 or even less depending where you shop. A good buy. The one I got has been going strong for over a year, and it doesn't look like it'll be needing a replacement for a very long time. Worst case scenario, if it starts to lose its edge after a few years, I can just buy another for under $5.

The best hand, vegetable peeler in the world by far! Always looking for the best quality products, I asked my elderly mother which potato peeler she used and why. She then walked over to her cutlery draw and pulled out this little unassuming product. She then relayed a story of taking a trip to Black-bush market in Berkshire UK back in the early 1970’s and saw a man demonstrating this very same product to peel all sorts of vegetables. She then said that the one in her hand was the very same one. That’s over 40 years ago! (At the time of writing this review) Now that doesn’t sound that fantastic until you realise my mother has been preparing three or more meals per day, every day, for all of that time. Always using the peeler and catering for her family of four children and husband. That’s somewhere in the region of around 44,000 preparations and this product is still going strong. Not only that! It has stayed sharp this whole time. The bottom blade has become thin but it still peels just as it did the first day she bought it. For me, the definition of a great product is its durability over time and this one gets top marks and really proves it worth. Talking of worth, she paid £1 over forty years ago and you can now buy it for around just £2 or less today! Talk about value!

Der Rex Sparschäler ist ein äußerst einfach und robust aufgebautes super durchdachtes Gerät. Die Funktion ist 100%tig gegeben und unübertroffen. Die sonstigen meist erheblich teureren Kopien aus Fernost oder dergleichen haben das einfache Prinzip häufig nicht verstanden und arbeiten nicht annähernd so gut. Ich habe diesen Schäler als Ersatz für den Originalvorgänger gekauft der nach rund 40-50Jahren (habe ihn aus dem Nachlass meiner Großmutter als Student übernommen) irreparabel kaputt war weil sich das Auge der Messerlagerung im weichen Aluminiumgriff durchgearbeitet hatte. Fazit: In Preis und Leistung unübertroffen. Ich habe das Teil in Amazon angeklickt und habe mich dann gewundert, daß die Lieferung aus England kam. Wie auch immer es hat Alles super geklappt. Bedingt durch die weite Anreise hat es natürlich etwas länger gedauert. Ich hätte es in die Schweiz definitiv näher gehabt um das Teil dort zu kaufen. Wie auch immer.

Pelar con este instrumento es más cómodo y rápido que con el cuchillo. Su precio es aceptable. Es todo lo que se puede pedir a un pelador de patatas,... membrillos, manzanas, tomates, berengenas...

As a left hander, peelers can sometimes be a challenge. These ones work perfectly, and last for years.
