good read
Had to read this for class but I thought it was actually intriguing and a nice read. Very informative. I recommend familiarizing yourself with psychoanalysis, behaviorism, and humanistic theories before reading this for a fuller understanding. This book However does a great job summarizing other psychotherapies

I'm Glad I Found This Book through Amazon!
Wonderful and very informative book. I'm glad I purchased it. It helped me to understand CBT. This method of therapy is explained in a way that someone not in the medical field can understand. I purchased the book "used" through Amazon at a reasonable price. Thank you, Amazon!

Interesting and easy to read
Purchased this book to write my thesis and it is excellent. The book is well-written, by the developer of Cognitive Therapy, now Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and is easy to read. Has a lot of foundational principles and has been updated since the first edition.

Wonderful book with many powerful case studies as examples; fascinating reading.
A great book for anyone who has any emotional disorder, or knows someone who does, or who simply finds the subject interesting. The author is a groundbreaking psychotherapist, who compares his premises and beliefs with those of previous schools of therapy. Profound and credible.

Boring but effective.
Long-winded, pretentious and uptight, but the chapters on depression and its treatment are excellent.

I am really enjoying reading this book. Well written and clear. Originally published in 1976, i.e. before Beck published his magnum opus on depression.

For a physician, like me, not well versed on psychotherapy, this book is an excellent introduction. I am exploring a new world, and that it has been fantastic!
