Is there a good fine mesh insert that would fit this? My only alternative would be coffee filters.

The insert is fine mesh. I ended up canceling the order because of the numerous concerns noted about the glass not being tempered enough to prevent shattering from the heat of hot water.

Will it break if i remove it from the fridge then immediately pour hot water into it?

I don’t know .i can say mine was room temp 70 degrees f and it exploded from the pressure of hot steam building up .but I’m sure if u pour hot water into a cold object it definitely will stress crack .
