Perfect for the job
Used as a background/display board and mirror surround, in my calming Emotional Literacy Support space, as it has a sand type texture and look to it, which is why I chose it, great for my small beach cove themed space. Helped bring all the elements of the space together, was easy to cut to size, but not as easy to stick...spray adhesive worked best. Would recommend and purchase again.

5mm cork tiles give a nice feel to the floor
being thicker than the normal cork tile, these give a springy feel to the floor when you walk on it, nice and warm too if you walk bare foot. Easy to cut and lay. You do need to leave them out of the wrapping for a couple of days prior otherwise they will curl (but that's fairly obvious really as they are tight packaged and a natural product) and i think shuffling them a bit keeps the colour variety better, but that's a personal opinion. very pleased with them

Just about DIY but expensive if you make a mistake. The actual product is excellent
For the first time I chose the self adhesive tile. I wouldn't do that again as it doesn't stick well enough around the edges even with a weight put on it although whether self adhesive or not the actual product is excellent.. Needed to add a liquid cork tile adhesive a couple of months later to keep it all flat. Have gone back to non self adhesive, its a bit more fiddly but if you select a good cork tile adhesive the end result is more robust even if its a bit messier and time consuming. Yes I did make sure the floor it was laid on was perfectly clean, it was brand new wiped down marine plywood!

Uncommon use
I ordered these to make my own noticeboard/vision board for my kitchen. I am over the moon with it. The tiles are strong and sturdy for cork so i imagine they would be great for flooring but they are also great to make your own noticeboard if you want to lol

Tiles were distorted necessitating use of contact adhesive
Seems like good quality cork and at 5mm thick is better as a sound deadening floor than thinner tiles. However they were packed in cellophane wrappers that were too tight resulting in all 4 corners being slightly turned up creating a concave effect. Despite leaving them unwrapped and under a 25kg weight for a week they remained distorted. This needless to say complicated laying them. The first adhesive used was not a contact adhesive and I found myself having to lay a flat board weighted down with some bags of plaster on top of the tiles overnight. As a result I obtained a contact adhesive which took longer but held the tiles flat.

Store for a while BEFORE laying
Store for a while BEFORE laying, like nearly all cork tiles they'd rather be curved than flat! Leave for a few days with a good size weight on them to get them perfectly flat...adhesion is excellent when you do this. Good, subtle colour variation tile to tile, good product.

Poor quality
Written June 2019 UPDATED APRIL 2020 (*see final paragraph) Visually quite a nice cork tile as the cork texture is composed of larger than average granules and therefore not a dull, completely uniform colour. The tiles I bought were pre-sealed which I wouldn’t have been my first choice (I’d prefer to seal the whole floor myself after laying to choose not only the finish but also to seal the whole floor.) The supplied finish is semi-matt and the thickness at 5mm is good for evening out small level changes in the sub-floor. However... The surface , whilst smooth overall, contains many indentations which are perhaps 1mm across on average. (Imagine looking in detail at a smoothly tarmaced road.). I have only just laid the tiles so I cannot judge the appearance in ten years time however these holes cannot but trap and hold dirt, however well the floor as a whole is sealed. They need filling. Moreover, the tiles themselves were, surprisingly, not a uniform size, varying by apx 1mm edge to edge. Both these issues have meant that it has been necessary to add an extra layer of sealant to stop fluids and dirt penetrating, particularly between the tiles, once laid. I consulted the company who were communicative but not very helpful at first however, once pressed, they did take my questions to the Portuguese supplier who suggested a wax finish could be applied after installation. (Indeed, their own finish did appear to be a wax applied over a varnish of some sort.) So this has beeen done and I’ve applied a generous coating of Fiddes Floor Wax which, although it can create a good lustre on wooden floors, produced very little visible difference on these cork tiles despite attempts to buff it up. The thin joints are now filled as is much of the grain. Only time (with occasional re-waxwings probably) will tell how effective my troubles have been.... October 2019 - two months later... Really disappointing. Having made all this effort, the cork already has what looks like bleach spots underneath the washing machine and, to a lesser extent, the cooker. Since no bleach has been used, I can only assume some detergent has splashed onto the floor (hardly unusual in a kitchen) and has bleached the cork. It’s not the surface unfortunately. Also, despite having spread them out to acclimatise for a week or more before laying, most of the tiles have still shrunk to expose small gaps between each one. In conclusion, avoid * TEN MONTHS ON...,. Spring 2020. The tiles have now shrunk, despite aftercare and most now have a slight gap between them. Worse, the shrinkage does not appear uniform. I STRONGLY ADVISE POTENTIAL PURCHASERS NOT TO BUY THESE TILES as there is no remedial action possible.
