Ferrex 150 Polysaccharide Iron Complex Capsules by Breckenridge - 100 Ea

After researching which iron is easiest on the stomach to help with anemia, this polysaccharide iron comes out on top. I've been taking it for about 5 - 7 years. I show it to my PCP and my hematologist and they both say that one is fine, meaning they never suggest I take something they presonally prescribe. Tho I find it kinda icky to buy pills, even supplements, from amazon, I do! And i have no complaints. I used to buy these in a blister pack, which was always super hard to open, and this is much easier. No complaints.

It was alot cheaper my insurance doesn't cover vitamins. I saved 39.00 by getting the same exact thing as my prescription.

I've had IDA for many years, tried many Fe supplements that made my intestines feel like they were full of concrete. I was getting to point where I might need Fe infusions and a friend recommended this product. She said a gastro dr recommends this to all his patients that need Fe because it's usually better tolerated. She was absolutely right! This supplement never makes my stomach hurt and it brought my Fe and Hgb levels back to normal.

ALSO my first order was a bottle of capsules. My second order was a box of capsules in bubble-cards. I really wish the listing had made that clear. It's a small thing, but storing and transporting capsules takes some planning and now I have to change over.

I"ve taken three or four different types of iron and find that most of them bind me up. Some give me stomach upset. I found one brand from Amazon that didn't give me stomach upset and didn't cause significant constipation but when I had my blood work done it didn't seem to improve my lab results. Ferrex works very well. It does not cause much constipation at all and with a few prunes and extra water it's not noticeable. Most iron supplements bother me so much I take them only a couple times a week, even though my doctor wants me to take them daily. I had some lab work done after just a couple of weeks taking this brand and it is working. It's the only product I can take daily. I'll buy it again when I need it.
