Really beautiful grain. I like the way this was sawn (I think you called it “quarter sawn.” It really expands the view of the grain. Also, this is the first piece of maple I’ve used and I like the way it feels in whatever situation, i.e., routering, sanding, etc. Thanks for sending such a nice piece.

The carving top-left in the photo is what resulted in working with the Butternut board. This is the first time I have not gone to a carvers' store to hand pick a piece of wood for a project. I frankly didn't think it possible to look at a photo on the Amazon site and be happy with my choice. I was fully ready to reject the board and send it back to Amazon and go someplace I could touch the wood and see it with my own eyes. To say I was surprised by the result of the Amazon order is an understatement and I was proud to present this carving to the recipient. I couldn't be happier.

These worked; however, the ones I received were cupped and had mineral stains on both sides, along with some filler. Take some time and clean these up, and they will be good for non-showpiece projects.

Beautiful wood! I purchased a total of 4 Black Walnut Wood Boards @ 3/4 x 7 x 3 in the same order. They were all true to size. I appreciate that all 4 boards were cut identical to the same width, depth and length. This is important to me as I currently do not have a planer and miter saw to get wood trimmed to perfect dimensions. Additionally, they arrived totally sanded on all sides, including the edges and ends. In order to create the perfect shelves that I wanted, I only needed prep with a few coats of tung oil and apply some light sanding between each layer. There was a small imperfection in one of the boards that seems have been filled in with wood filler. This is nice because imperfections such as these are common in Black Walnut and many people would probably not know how to fix it properly, including me, Lol! These are truly project ready for people with limited woodworking skills.

I bought two of these to make shelves for my rear speakers and could not be happier. The measurements were exactly as stated and arrived very quickly. The wood is absolutely beautiful. Highly recommended.

Disappointing, arrived warped. Once I planned it flat it was less than 1/2”.
