Best battle mat for table top RPG I Own
Bought in 2023.. been used very regularly. I have other vinyl type game mats by Chessex and other makers and those have stained and faded with years of usage.. (good mats, then selves) BUT these silicone ones are frankly brilliant! They lay flat straight away once unrolled (I keep mine rolled up between games at the club) and you can also fold them to fit in a bag if you wish to, just don't fold them too tight or creases will remain, but a dunk in some warmish water should help those straighten out. You can use Dry and Wet Erase board marker type pens, BUT wet have oils in their inks and will (especially red!!) will leave marks that you will need to use some detergent or bathroom cleaner to remove. Using dry wipes are great, they clean off. One of the mats I use I left some WFRP RPG encounters on by accident for over 12 months and a dunk in some warm water and usage of baby wipes and soap cleaned them off without leaving a stain or shadow! (Unlike my Chessex). So in over 30 plus years of TTRPG gaming and using various mats, these are by far the best. So much so I made our club by a couple. You won't regret this purchase if you are playing TTRPGs for if you have something the kids can draw upon and clean that you can easily take on holiday etc as it folds up.. Tip - Get the kids of make up games or draw there own snakes and ladders and just clean it up after the holiday! :)

Great mat!
Such a great mat! The fact that this is made of silicone makes it really durable and it feels so high quality. Compared to other mats you can get, this one is only like £5 more than some really bad ones, and it’s so worth it. It’s a standard sized mat and it’s really easy to wipe down with a little water. Highly recommend!

The number 1 dnd tool
This is amazing, use it all the time and is really easy to clean! I think this is the best tool for a DM as you can alway have it on the table and just draw anything on it. Its great for prepping to as you can plan in advance and it doesn’t rub off so you can transport it with ease.

Good for custom set peices
Pretty good tool, Let's me design really interesting set pieces that the PC's muck up immediately. A little difficult to clean sometimes I find, but worth the money.

One Mat for all TTRPGs
A solid, good quality rubber mat, it has 1inch grid on one side, and a 1inch hex-grid on the other. You can wet and dry erase on this mat (would recommend more wet erasing more - easier to clean off) and even after having something drawn on for a few months it is easy to clean and wipe away. I have used mine now for over 2 years, and never needed anything else to draw on battle maps for ttrpg. (If you do dry/wet erase, keep it to a tissue or wipes anything with a rough edge may take the gridded lines off)

Easy to use and clean
This works really well, easy to clean off and write on. The material feels great and lays flat very easily. It's a really good size too! Slight downside of you can see the lines drawn on the other side (I drew a smaller map on the hex grid side and my main map on the square grid and you could see some of the lines through the material) but in most cases this wouldn't be an issue.

Would purchase again.
Nice and durable mat. Came as expected and has a nice rubbery texture. Does not come with any sort of container which would be nice.

Great product makes gaming easy
Fab product, would advise using a bit of antibacterial gel on a cloth to wipe of really quickly, perfect for our games

Great product
Huge fan of this gaming mat. It always lays perfectly flat, it's a good size, it's spill-proof if players want to be eating/drinking during a game, and a cheap pack of dry-erase markers make it easy to sketch out a map with as much or as little detail as I want. Also, I live in a small apartment with three pets and the hair doesn't stick to this mat, which is a huge bonus. It's a little pricey, but in the end much cheaper and easier than building fancy battle maps, and it's super versatile. Cleaning requires a little more elbow grease than I expected, even using isopropyl alcohol to get rid of the markers, but that's not enough of a downside for me to deduct a star. And once it is clean it looks brand new.

Better than the standard vinyl maps
The map is extremely well made and well worth the cost. The material makes it very easy to roll out flat every time and doesn't seem to crease. Because of this, you can fold it up and it takes up so much less room than a standard vinyl mat. Plus, it's extremely good at both holding dry marker without smudging (even with gentle wiping if it gets dirty). So, you can pre-draw stuff and keep it there for a couple weeks before removing it. I'd highly recommend baby wipes as they instantly clear areas and because it's marginally harder to rub out using cloths/hands, though totally possible. Personally, I consider this a plus as it means that marks won't be accidentally smudged or wiped off. There are only two drawbacks I can find, the first being that the material is slightly transparent, so it's possible to see marks through the mat - makes it a little hard to hide predrawn stuff. This just means that you keep the map out of sight until you need it, or go for the standard black card overlay. Not really an issue. The second drawback is that the silicone picks up a mild static charge easily and can collect dirt/hair if used on an unclean surface - such as a bed. Thankfully, this isn't a problem as just gently wiping over it with a dry cloth will remove the dirt without disturbing the drawings and, if it's particularly dirty, I've found that giving it a very gentle rinse in the sink takes care of it. All-in-all, I'd never hesitate to recommend it over the standard vinyl offerings and will probably try to convert other DMs :)

Light, Multi-Use, Easy-Store Mat
I decided to buy the Ergon Battle Mat after a search for gridded whiteboards. My wife and I were laying out a backyard screen enclosure and needed a square-gridded, erasable surface to sketch ideas and dimensions. The Ergon mat fit the bill! The mat itself is thin silicone - flexible without being TOO flexible ... barely. You do have to exercise some care when erasing as the silicone surface takes a little more pressure than a hard surface and, if you rub too hard, the surface begins to stretch a bit (temporarily). The grid is nicely done as the ink is clearly visible without being too heavy or distracting. The grid on the mat I received is *slightly* askew. While the 1” squares are indeed square over the interior of the mat, the “squares” along the edges are neither square nor consistent. The squares on one edge, for example, taper from 13/16” at one corner of the mat to 7/8” at the other. I’m not sure if this is a printing or cutting issues. In practice, this doesn’t affect my usage, but it’s something to be aware of if the edge squares are of particular importance to you. I tried multiple methods of erasure. (All with dry erase markers, of course.) Dry erasing doesn’t work well, leaving a dim smear. Wet erasing using water isn’t much better. Ergon suggests using baby wipes. I didn’t have any and didn’t want to buy any, but I figured that using isopropyl alcohol would work. And it does, like a charm! A bit on a paper towel as needed and the marker comes right off. The paper towel when used damp like this doesn’t leave fibers behind. Don’t use one dry, though! All-in-all, the silicone surface is slightly more difficult to erase than a typical white board surface. The upside to that, however, is you aren’t constantly, inadvertently rubbing off markings. I’ll take that trade off anytime. I don’t find that the mat is particularly dust attracting, despite some other reviews. I also LIKE that it doesn’t slip and slide like a vinyl or plastic mat as it makes precision marking easy. The mat arrived folded in its package. Most of the faint fold lined disappeared after the mat had been laid out for a while. I would definitely recommend storing the mat rolled as Ergon suggests, though. Because the mat is thin, it can be rolled to a very small cylinder. Lightweight, too, in a good way. In summary, the Ergon Battle Mat is an interesting variation on markable surfaces. ALL mats and boards have trade offs and the Ergon is no exception. I like the mat and recommend it, with some caveats, again, around the grid consistency at the edges - hence 4 stars instead of 5. Great communication from Ergon, by the way! I received a post-purchase email from them with care instructions.

Simply the best
Fantastic map, no wrinkles or crease despite staying folded for weeks at a time, very smear resistant, insanely easy to clean, works with all dry erase markers. The best for tabletop gaming

Easily my best DnD purchase
This mat ticks all the boxes: it's effortlessly portable and doesn't crease easily, lays flat instantly, it's waterproof, easy to draw on, and only rubs off when you really mean it (but still comes off easily when you do). I cannot fault this mat in any way, highly recommend.
