Perfect for my use. Beware if you have toddlers or climbing pets. Epoxy tips might help you
Another Update: Still working as good as the first day of use almost two years ago. Don't want to test fate, so I won't update again unless something abnormal happens. I'm still very pleased with it and feel like it has saved me buying a new room a/c for my office and doesn't use much electricity to keep me comfortable in here. Upgrading my rating to 5 stars from 4. Oh and btw, we have no kids or pets. UPDATE after 10 months: This fan has been running virtually 24/7 for 10 months now, just to pull cooled or heated air from the next room that has a big heat pump air conditioner. It was an experiment, just to save the price of putting an a/c in this room. I used it during the winter turned around to blow the low-lying cold air out and pull in the warm air by way of the vacuum created at the top of the door, but during the coldest days I also ran a space heater in here. The fan runs on the mid setting and has kept this room quite comfortable when it's hot outside... and by hot I include 3 days that were over 100º outside. It is NOT ONE DECIBEL LOUDER than when I turned it on the first time. It has not been damaged, even though my wife turns it around occasionally for some odd reason. ORIGINAL REVIEW: OK I got this on sale from Amazon for $40, so I will judge this item on that price and my beginning grade is 4 stars. It is quiet enough that I can place it at the door to my office and it brings in noticeable cool air from the next room without enough noise to bother me. That's on HIGH speed. On low speed I can barely hear it at all. Reading the other reviews, I must have gotten one of the good ones... there are so many complaints. But this initially is very quiet and does make adequate wind to satisfy my requirements (my office A/C is broken, so I have to suck air from the bedroom). WARNING! Though the following information might make your (working) fan last longer, it will almost certainly nullify your warranty and ability to return the unit for repair or refund! Assembly: This is made of cheap, soft plastic. The screws are adequate in size, but strip out VERY easily in soft plastic, so my advice is to make certain you are assembling this correctly (maybe put it together and then take the screws out one by one and dip them into EPOXY). Then screw them in just until you feel them hit bottom + a half turn. You might want to put a dob of epoxy on the snap together tabs on the base and pedestal too...easy enough to see where to put it... just for a little more strength. Keep it on the inside of the pedestal and on the bottom of the base and it won't even show... don't use too much. Do this at your own risk... I'm experienced doing this sort of thing and so it's easier for me than for a first-timer. It is obviously VERY fragile, so handle it carefully while assembling and whenever you move it. I do NOT recommend this or any similar fan for use when there is a toddler pulling up on things, or who likes to "tackle" stuff... find a more substantial fan... maybe even a cat might be enough to pull it down and smash it. Even at $40 it hurts when things break! For my uses, this appears to be perfect. It might get noisier later or maybe fall apart in spite of the epoxy, but who knows, maybe not. Most fans last me a very long time.

Works nicely and were getting another one
We live in an area that AC is only needed a few days or a week or two straight per year, so we’ve always just gone with opened windows, ceiling fans and tower or stand fans. However, we do live in a 2 story with its bedrooms upstairs and because of this the bedrooms tend to get stuffy even when the windows open. We’ve tried many and I mean MANY other fans; from stand fans, window fans, even other tower fans and fans from different price ranges (yes, even those expensive ones) as well as different brands. Most of the fans we’ve owned, even on the highest setting, merely blow air around and really don’t make a difference in the comfort of the room. Plus, even though the “expensive one” worked nicely, it lasted just about a year of off and on use and not being left on more than 8 or 9 hours! This Honeywell is just as efficient and such a great price, so even if it lasts only a year we won’t be upset about it, because we’re not out all that money like before. This Honeywell HYF023W Comfort Control Tower Fan is different than all those other fans we’ve owned. This has been the first fan that actually makes the air it circulates feel cooler, not sure how it’s able to do this but it really does, plus even when it is not set to oscillate it still covers a fairly wide area, which is even better when oscillating though! A feature I really appreciate is the up to 8-hour timer! All the other fans we’ve owned or own don’t offer anything beyond a 4-hour timer, plus this fan is fairly quiet, which is a surprise our other tower fans are on the louder side. We had never owned a Honeywell fan before, only their air purifiers, so honestly we weren’t sure what to expect in a fan made by them. The only things I think they could do to make this fan even better is offer it in a black or grey and offer one with a remote, but other than that we couldn’t be more pleased with this purchase and we will be purchasing another one. This is the best!
I first bought this model about six years ago and used it every single night, small season! Maybe if I took care of it better or ever took it to someone to have it cleaned I could still use it. It’s not that it stopped working but developed a bit of a squeak so I decided to replace it. I was excited to find the exact one because it’s perfect for me and I know what to expect from it. My room gets direct sun on two sides and even with insulated curtains it’s still warmer than I like. I turn it on about ten minutes before I go to bed and it draws cooler air from the hall so it’s comfy when I’m ready to sleep. Super easy to put together. Not too loud as I enjoy the background noise but not so loud I can’t hear my ocean waves playing on my dot. Slim design makes it easy to tuck out of the way. Three speeds and can oscillate but I have it preset to stay exactly as I like so it’s just a matter of turning on and off. Slim enough and light enough I’ve even taken with me on road trips. I love it!

Excellent room cooling solution!
It's been getting pretty hot here in the Pacific Northwest so we had to choose between upgrading the house with an air conditioner or buying fans for the rooms that we mostly hang out in. After going through a number of options on Amazon I selected this one primarily because of multiple reviews that mentioned how much of a cooling effect this fan provides. And those reviews have been bang on. I was expecting a fan that would just circulate air and keep the area cool. Never expected this fan to output chill air, incredible how it does that. Fan looks smart, clean white and slim look. Not as tall as it looks in pictures but not small either. Has a large plastic base that feels lightweight but is good and preventing the fan from tipping over. So far has been very stable even on carpets. Three speed options - the slow one is sufficient for small rooms of about 10ft by 10ft. Quite silent at the slow speed. The medium speed option is stronger but there is a bit of wind noise. The high speed option is outright audible but I guess you'd need that if the room is really hot. Somehow the air blown is really cool at all three speeds, at the highest speed it gets really cold in the room. It's got a few timer options, haven't used that much yet but I can see that being useful for running the fan overnight. Taking away one star because there's one minor annoyance. When I turn on the swivel option there is a distinct tapping noise as the fan swivels as though something is rubbing something else inside. It's slightly annoying but eventually you get used to it and feels a bit like white noise after a bit. Not sure if the product I received is slightly defective, haven't seen other reviewers mention this noise during swivel. On the whole a great product - when you're hot you need something that can cool the place quickly, and this fan does that perfectly.

Great purchase, worked from August to end of Oct.
Great product, amazing price. Originally purchased for my daughter's room. It worked so well we put it in the living room. We could actually feel the breeze all the way from my daughter's room, down the hall, and into our bedroom. Only surprise was there was a smell the first few hours that we used it. Thankfully that went away. (UPDATE, Nov 4, 2016) The fan stopped working. It hasn't been moved since I set it up. But I turned it on and walked away one morning. When I walked into the room, there was a funny smell. Like something was hot, like burnt plastic. I instantly looked at the fan and it wasn't doing anything. The smell was coming from it. Obviously, I turned it off and unplugged it. I had my husband take a look at it later that day. Same thing, he turned it on and nothing. Such a shame. I was so happy with it.

Great price, Great fan, especially if you are using it for a sleeping room. LOVE IT
I do like this fan, a lot. It's quite... well just the right "white noise" sound, it doesn't blast you like some other brands. The lights are on top and near the back so you don't see them and they are reddish orange color so they don't bother you during the night. I do love that it's all white and has a wide panel to blow air in the front. I don't mind the height, it is a bit shorter than previous fans that we've purchased from this company, but it still stands above the height of the bed so you still feel the air. I wish it had an ionizer, but it's okay for me that it doesn't since we have one in the room. It went together very easily and fast, it doesn't creak and there are no rattles, etc. I picked the all white one so that it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb in the room and it's light and short enough that if I wanted to put it on a base or a nightstand or dresser I could. For this price, it's a really great fan, especially if you are using it for a sleeping room. LOVE IT

Great for the price but nothing fancy.
This fan maybe works well for northern States, in Miami Fl, my Air conditioner broke in July, we use this fan and three more regular fans from Wal-Mart while our air conditioning fixed. This one is the same as the $13 from Wal-Mart and do the same function. I notice after our air was fixed and the inside house temperature where about 76, the fan air coming out more cold. I think is better for the cold States where the higher temp is lower than 80. I have the fan stored as back up fan in an emergency situation with the central air conditioner. The fan is quiet without any noise, well designed, and when the inside house temperature is less than 79 the air from the fan come out really cold up to 10 foot distance. If you intend to use the fan in a hot place the air comes out like a regular fan.

Absoolutely Freezes You Out
I don't understand the difference between one fan and another. To me they just displace air. So, there shouldn't be a huge difference in the temperature of the air between fans that are constructed in a similar manner. Yet this fan is freezing me out! My DIL has one of these that I used while staying at her house and I got so cold, I actually had to shut it off during the night. That was wonderful to me as I hate being hot. So, I came home and ordered myself the exact same one. It got here today and we put it together right away. I sat it in the kitchen and I am in the room next door. It came around the corner and got me. I had to turn the darn thing off because I was freezing sitting here at the computer. I love this fan... I might have to move it back a ways, or turn it down to keep from freezing... but I'm going to love hunkering down under the comforter and having a good night's sleep. If I still feel the same way by the end of the week, I'm going to order a couple more of these beauties. I have visions of a lower utility bill swimming around in my head. Highly recommend this fan. And, the price is great! Update: I turned the AC to 72 and it's 81 degrees outside (N. Ala).... the room with my computer in it is about 17 by 17 and it's very very cool. Last night I move the fan about 8 feet from the bed and almost in the bathroom. I pointed away from my body... I used my sheet and a quilt to cover me and was perfectly cool. Usually I would have to turn the AC down to 68 or below to keep this room cool. Left it on 73. Still don't understand why... but am definitely ordering another next month.. wish they had them in black. Update: I ordered the second one of these fans and have had it now for about two weeks. We mostly live in three rooms and these two fans are really cooling the house off. It was over 86 degrees and we were cool here inside. I don't understand it, but I love how they work. My Ac is set at 70 and the other rooms not used are shut off. The Ac only comes on in the early afternoon and goes off somewhere around 5 pm... No longer running 24/7 with these fans. This is just weird and I can't figure out the science of why these fans work so much better than my others. I have a few set out in the garage now gathering dust because I'm just using these two and one other tower fan (which doesn't work near as well). My DIL also ordered another one for one of the teenagers in her house who likes it cold at nights... he's loving his too.
