How often do you apply for scratches?

Keep a layer on the affected area at all times until healed, the scab severity will determine how often you must apply. If the scabs are thick and severe, you may need to use coconut oil-soaked cotton balls on the area and wrap overnight to soften to gently assist in their release without causing your horse injury. This process may need to be repeated several times in order to sufficiently soften and released the scabs. Once this has been done, apply Coat Defense Paste to complete the healing process.

Does this help with hock sores?

Yes, it will help heal the sores. But the only way to avoid them is to use shavings, add soft ground where your horse rolls and lays down or use hock socks. Otherwise, the sores will never heal and will only get worse.

You simply dab it on a problem spot OR smear it onto larger areas. It’s safe to touch, so no gloves required. Very pleasant product & unlike most topicals, it really stays on - even for days- unless you want to remove with a little water. Wonderful stuff!! Just bought first jar & have used it on nicks, an area on the side of my horse’s face he had itched to a raw angry state and it’s soothing! Just started applying to his heel bulbs where he gets scaley this time of year. It’s helping those as well!
