With practical information aimed at home DIYers, author Tyler Baras (Farmer Tyler to his fans) shows exactly how to build, plant, and maintain over a dozen unique hydroponic systems, some costing just a few dollars to make. No soil? No sunlight? No problem. A hydroponic growing system gives you the power to grow plants anywhere. Even if you live in an area where water is scarce, a hydroponic system is the answer you’ve been looking for. Hydroponic systems are sealed and do not allow evaporation, making water loss virtually nonexistent. Simply suspend your essential nutrients in a water-based solution and circulate them to the plant roots in a contained network of vessels and tubes. This accessible guide provides the solid information you need for hydroponic gardening success. Farmer Tyler shows you, with detailed step-by-step photos, precisely how to create these systems, and how to plant and maintain them. All the information you need to get started with your home hydroponic system is included:Recipes for nutrient solutionsLight and ventilation sourcesComprehensive equipment guideGrowing and maintenance instructions12+ hydroponic system buildsComplete crop selection chartsDIY Hydroponic Gardens is the best resource available for getting started in hydroponics. Waste. Don't buy.
Book with very good paper, quality print, good pictures. But content is very disappointing. I am a layman and started reading this book with a hope that, I can do hydrophonics on my own after reading this book. But no. It is a book written hapazardly and in my opinion, not useful to beginner's or to experts. Don't buy. Sorry for being so harsh. This book deserves it. Worst purchase that I made.

Excellent Book! Highly Recommend
This is a great book for anyone interested in hydroponics - beginners to advanced. It's an especially good book for those looking to build their own systems and grow their own food. The book provides step by step building instructions for several different types of hydroponic systems. Along with the instructions are plenty of helpful pictures. It also covers the basics of the nutrients you can use for such systems as well as relevant crop information. I've been a hydroponics enthusiast and small scale hydroponics gardener for the past decade or so and have read many books on the topic. To me, this book is a must have and arguably the best of it's kind - design, build, grow! I bought this book last winter and experimented with some systems right away. Got to enjoy fresh veggies all summer and most of the fall. I had great success with tomatoes, basil, kale, green peppers, and mint!

Outstanding Introduction to Hydroponics
I really enjoyed this book. It provides the right balance of introductory advice and practical guidance. The only improvement would be to include schematics of the systems. The practical growing advice at the back of the book is particularly useful as it is clearly based on real life experience. Overall, a really generous book.

Fantastic Overview, Well Written, Loved It!
I have been playing around with two types of hydroponics but I wanted to know about other types of systems as I advance in my knowledge of my new hobby. So far I have been to a wgreat number of websites and received fragmented and repetitieve information. This was a comprehensive introductory source. The writer is authoritative in his knowledge but he makes everything very simple and clear, and he uses a lot of photos to great advantage. It's a fast, easy read yet loaded with information. The book not only helps you to design and build a system but also helps you decide upon which type of system will best meet your particular needs. It also provides information about which specific varieties of plants do best in these systems. I hesitated buying this book because it seemed expensive for a softback, but the money I will save in not making mistakes and by being able to create my own systems for very little money makes it well worth the price. Very highly recommended!
