Pointed tips were the answer
Great clamps. I needed the pointed tips to grasp onto furring in order to wedge in the grooves on a pine tongue and groove ceiling. Had ordered the flat style initially, but they did not hold as well. Very good quality. Happy with the purchase as hard to find this style in the big box stores
