Great kit..one small adjustment needed to be perfect
The kit included everything I needed to do my spring tune up of my John Deere LA 145. Everything fit perfectly. But after all was connected my mower would not start. I went through all the normal troubleshooting steps. I verified I was getting spark, then I moved on to fuel and air. First I removed the fuel line that feeds into the gas filter and verified that it was flowing. Then I disconnected the fuel line from the fuel pump and saw that fuel was flowing. Then I removed the hose that came from the fuel pump and no fuel was flowing. At first I thought that maybe the new fuel pump was bad, but then I decided to blow carburetor cleaner through that hose and found that it was blocked. Looking very carefully I discovered that on the end that was blocked there was a rubber cap embedded in the hose that had apparently come off the new fuel pump. I pulled it out and checked the last hose connection (I believe it is a vacuum hose)and found another black cap. Apparently the manufacturer puts these on the ends of the fuel pump inlets to protect it from contaminants but they are the exact same color as the pump and are not readily distinguished from the rest of the actual pump. They should be colored yellow or white to make them stand out. The story ends well despite all the challenges this adventure provided as I was able to start my mower immediately after removing the offending caps and finally cut my slightly overgrown yard.
