My son wanted a fish last year…well, now we have a 20 gal tank and the offspring of said fish (close to 15 platys). I was unwilling to move to a larger tank, and fortunately all fish are female, so decided to get a good filter instead. I got the Fluval 30 gal and use biomax as one of the 3 substrates. I do a partial water chance once per week and vacuum part of the gravel, but the tank never really gets dirty. I change the charcoal about every other month or so, and change this every 4 months. Great deal for a solid product.

I like the filter (that I bought here) very much. I thought it was a bit noisy at first but before I had the chance to learn how to lube the impeller, it quieted down so that it's virtually silent, much quieter than a canister across the room. Also, there is a coupon deal with the filter (my box didn't have the coupon but I found it online in the listing on a pet supply company website) where if you buy the filter and one year's supply of inserts (12 carbons, 6 foams) the company will send you enough for another year. Such a deal!

Not the subjected filter but it still works. I wanted to try the biological filtration so I bought the small pack for a 30 gallon and tried it in my corner filter. It seems to be working well and it was very good price.

Got this product to change out the filter of our fish tank. This works great in our tank. We love looking at our fish now that it’s clean and bright and sparkly. I will choose this again when I need a new filter.

Works alongside foam sponge and charcoal filter to keep the aquarium water clean. Depending on how many fish in the tank, needs to be changed or washed out every couple of weeks.
