I've bought many books to start my hobby into bee keeping and this one is by far the most beginner and reader friendly. Lots of great pictures and presented well to keep you engaged. If you are new to Bee Keeping I urge you to get this book.

A few years ago I brought dummies guide to bees. Whilst the book was OK and has some good reference material I found it a little confusing and actually gave up on the idea of getting a hive at that time. Two year later (now) after taking a renewed interest because a relative had a hive I could actually look at I came back and brought ti's bbka guide. This book is perfect no confusion, so much so I've ordered my hive to build ready for next year and also signed up for a spring beginners course through bbka at a local facility. By far the best book to read for any begginer

Some great snippets of information in this book. I've read a few books on beekeeping and this particular one has come up with some new and relevant information. There is everything a novice would need to begin keeping bees, and I heartily recommend this book. I did find though that the way the book is written, with every page having some interesting facts entered at the sides of the pages (unrelated to the main text) was difficult to read in the context of the main text. I had to keep stopping reading the main text to read the inserted facts, it would have been better to have inserted the facts actually into the main text. The book feels a wee bit cheap also, the cover is thin and the paper quality not great. That said it is a great source of information.

Got this as a present for some1 in the bbka as its the most up to date book full of the latest info and a great read

This is a very informative book if you are new to beekeeping. Lots of great information and very interesting to read bee facts too. This was recommended to us by an experience beekeeper. We would highly recommend too after reading!

Beekeeping is a vast subject, contrary to what many people imagine. Getting a balance between enough information for beginners, and getting too technical is tricky but this manages that interface pretty well. I have used this for my Beginners courses and it’s replaced paper handouts. It covers many aspects not covered elsewhere, such as the importance of record-keeping. The second edition is a great improvement in many ways from the first edition. I would recommend this as essential reading for anyone contemplating taking up beekeeping as it also illustrates the cost and commitment required to be a responsible beekeeper.

The book is great bought as a Christmas present

I was given the first edition by a friend when I became a beekeeper and it is one of the best books I have on the subject. My friend is now also a beekeeper and I wanted her to have the latest edition. She was as pleased to receive her book as I was to have received mine.

It arrived on time.The book is very professional written easy to understand and I highly recommend it for people that would like to start bee keeping or have an interest in bees .

As a incoming beekeeper, I have been absorbing all different sorts of knowledge from beekeeping books and accumulating a nice collection. This one is definitely a favorite. Well written and highly illustrated with many color photographs show all the aspects of beekeeping, the tools, life inside the hive and so much more. I highly recommend this book to other aspiring beekeepers as well.

I am a second year beekeeper and have read a lot of books about the subject. I rank this in my top three books for learning the basics of beekeeping.
