Perfect for isolating fish strong suction cups
These are perfect for isolating a pregnant fish or a babies that you don’t want to get eaten also good for isolating an aggressive fish. Allows existing water tank flow through you don’t have to worry about a rotation, etc. are very strong and keep it against them the glass.

This hatchery can be used to separate for an aggressive betta
Although I don't prefer to cage a fish, so far, this hatchery seems a working solution to housing a betta and a gourami in the same tank. My half-moon betta was added months after the tank was setup. The betta didn't bother the sterbai corycats, neon tetras, or the siamese algae eater at all. But anytime it saw the little honey gourami, the betta would set it's sight and chase the gourami around the tank. I could almost hear the music from Jaws playing in the background! The hatchery comes with dividers, but to maximize the space available for the betta to swim in, I leave the dividers out. I like that the hatchery is a decent size and that using the suction cups is optional. The design of the hatchery allows it to float and in my tank, it stays in one place without the use of the suction cups. The betta seems comfortable. The honey gourami is happy. I give this hatchery two thumbs up. All is well.

Its ok
Its ok. It works. The suction cups will not let go. The lid is a pain to stay on. Really had to be put on just right. It floats but you still have to be very careful not to let it go under.

Nice fish hatchery
I have now purchased two of these fish hatcheries. I use one for babies and another to quarantine a wounded fish. It comes with suction cups to hold it in place, but it is pretty stable without them. It also has a divider if needed. It’s a quality product and a good value for the money. I planning to add a couple more to my collection as my African Cichlids continue to multiply. I definitely recommend this product for any fish keeper.

Great for Isolation.. Not for Breeding
This is a fairly decent product. My only issue is that the wholes are too big for my danio eggs/embryos meaning they can easily escape into the main tank quickly drawing more attention to the box and ultimately becoming prey. Once I saw the fish swarming around the box and saw one escape all I could find to quickly resolve the issue was wrapping a clear plastic shower cap around the sides and bottom. It helped but now I have a few tiny fry stuck between the cap and the box :-( Honestly, with the large, I wouldn’t even put a few day old black mollies in there. The box is great for isolation of bigger (youth/adult size fish such as mollies, guppies, etc) though!! Just be careful if you choose to actually use it as a “breeder” box. At one point, I even had black mollies eating the contents of the box through the holes on the side :-(

Great for protecting
Perfect for my injured fish he’s approximately 4 inches and he can barely move anymore, but there is one other fish in the tank who bullies him constantly and was eating his fin so I had to get this to protect him and it’s perfect. It’s the perfect size too he can’t really move much since he’s handicapped so it gives him just enough space to get relief from the other fish. That’s a big fat bully! I like that it’s hard plastic and not mesh. It was a couple extra bucks, but it was worth it. It does have a divider if you do need to have two different fish onto different levels, but I would suggest it being only if you’re breeding and not for quarantining.

Fry swim right through the holes
I ordered the small but was not expecting it to be super small. It will fit in the palm of your hand. Even thought it was really small I still used it and thought it could work. But once I put the fry in the tiny box there were holes around the bottom and the fry just swam right out. The holes are way to large even the eggs fall through the holes. The lid that goes on the top does not fit snugly if you put it even with the water line. The lid will float up and off allowing larger fish inside and the fry outside. The suction cups hold pretty good, and stays stuck on the side of the tank. If you lift the tiny box out of the water make sure there are no fish inside because all of the water drains out the bottom holes so you have to keep the little box submerged somewhat in order to keep water inside. Even though I measured the size small was super small. I must have measured wrong. It would be fine for small fish like neons or small fish like that. I have zebra fish (danios) the box was actually to small for them to turn around in. The first photo is full view of my 20 gal tank with the little box in the middle at the top. The other photo is zoomed in. Not happy with the little box at all. Its cheaper to just keep it. My first order never came and I had to get a refund and reorder. The package did arrive undamaged and item had no cracks.

(Update: Fixed it.) Fry escaped 100% of the time
Update: The nylon worked! I put a knee high type nylon around the box and that did keep the fry in and they cannot escape. It's a quick, easy, and inexpensive fix. Disappointed when we waited 2 days to put the fry inside and they still were too small and escaped. I tried about 3 or 4 times to place fry inside and they escaped 100% of the time. It was smaller than expected but that's okay I suppose for my use. The suction cups work very well. Unfortunately the slits are a little too big apparently. I did read from another review to try pantyhose so I will try that tomorrow. I currently have a small Tupperware container inside the hatchery until I figure something out since the suction cups work very well. I'm glad I saw that suggestion and will try to put the hatchery inside pantyhose to see if that will stop them from escaping while still allowing water through.

This box is great for isolating certain fishes/shrimps from your tank. It fits inside my tank. The slits are big, so small fry/shrimps will slip through. I use this mainly to as a temporary cull space to remove shrimps that I don’t want. I find that it’s better to place it under an air stone so that the fishes/shrimps you have in here have some air, as the water does get stale.
