It was everything I hoped for
I go though boots like nobody's business. I've tried expensive ones. I've tried cheap ones. I've tried middle of the road ones. These I will buy again. They hit the sweet spot, between comfort and price. No boot will last forever, so spending $300 every 6 months is a little crazy, and if you go the other way and go with $20 boots, ha, good luck! You may spend less, but your feet are gonna hurt, your gonna be slipping everywhere, and getting wet, and having to buy a new pair every 2 months. These boots are holding up well, no catastrophic failures, just normal wear on the bottoms. You'll be spending significantly less than the pricy boots, nearly just as comfortable, and they will last you just as long. My only complaint was that there was a spot on the top of the toe box where the suede was messed up. I could have probably returned them and got another pair sent to me, but I don't wear them to be pretty, I wear them to get work done, and for that, they are fantastic. Especially compared to the boots I bought right before these on Amazon. If you're considering these boots, stop wasting your time, and hit buy now. You could spend all day weighing the pros and cons, reading a million reviews, saying eenie meenie miny mo, but just get them, and be done with it. They fit well They are comfortable They look good They keep your feet dry They hold up well Keep in mind, that I do not generally go through extremely rugged terrain with these, but they give every indication that they would be up to the challenge. What I do know is that I can walk 15 miles and not end up with painful, soggy, blistery feet.

Great light Weight shoes! Very comfortable. My fiance loves them.
These are excellent quality boots. They were comfortable right out of the box. He wears them every day. They wear well. No noticeable scuffs or scrapes on the leather. They are waterproof and have omni-grip for hiking. All terrain boots for many purposes! They run true to size. Very lightweight and versatile. The price was excellent! Don't hesitate they are definitely worth it!

Great hiking boot.
These are very comfortable for walking in for hours in rough terrain. They fit as expected and the waterproofing seems to hold up. UPDATE: It has been about a one year now since I bought these boots. I wear these boots 5 days a week, 8 hours a day, and walk about 10 miles a day with these. I have to say after a year they hold up really well. So far they have held up to the long distances I put them through and still look like they're in good condition. I have put hundreds of miles through these boots in the last year and nothing about them has failed me. The sole shows little signs of wear, the insole isn't torn or worn and still provides excellent support. This Boot provides great water resistance, my feet have never gotten wet as long as the boot is properly tied. Even the laces are still in really great shape of which I'm the most surprised. I thought soon after getting these that the laces would start too rip apart, but not yet. If I had to guess with the high usage I use them, these boots still have probably another 2 years in them for me. Overall I'm very happy with this pair of boots, and I don't think for the money you can beat them. I also intend to buy another pair so I can keep one pair at work and one at home.

18 months later, surprisingly satisfied
Purchased July 2022 in a rush to take on family vacation so that I could wear/pack just one pair of shoes. Being new, these worked perfectly for casual dining appearance, lounging around the cabins, limited hiking, riverbank fishing, light rain, dirt or mud conditions forecast. I did a minimum amount of online research for the most positive buyer feedback at lowest cost. These were priced at only 89.95 at the time. I've owned several boots and similar casual hikers over 45+ years. They usually start breaking down within 6-9 months. I have fallen arches, plantar fasciitis on left foot, right foot one size wider and shorter than the left, so sizing is often a crap shoot. These fit snug and comfortable enough with decent grip and ankle/foot support right out of the box. No break-in necessary, as others have said. They were subpar, as expected, on the few longer steep, rocky inclines I came across. Just not rigid enough so the balls of my feet and arches tired quickly. They make a GREAT hiker/walker on every other flat or hilly terrain. I liked them enough after vacation to make them my everyday shoe. I've been wearing these almost every day to work; standing/walking on concrete and asphalt 9-10 hours/day, 4 days/week, and hiking, walking, shopping on days off work for 18 months. They've been warm in moderately cold weather (+10°) and not overly hot in Texas weather. Decent moisture wicking/breathing kept feet pretty dry. The traction/tread did wear enough by 12-13 months to make walking on wet rocks or slippery surfaces overly treacherous but that's better life than most. My heel has worn the lining of both insoles but not all the way through; no uncomfortable folds or lumps underfoot; a welcome surprise given experience with others. The stitching, glue, outsoles have held far better than most! Shockingly, no separations between outsole and footbed. No deep cracks in bottom of soles. Even the toe bumper has not shown any separation. This suede upper DID show permanent wrinkles on the tops of toe/foot more quickly (1-2 months) than most others but not terribly ugly while wearing, as you might guess from my photos. How these could be called "waterproof" being suede with no Gortex or similar layer, I don't know. My waterproof expectations were reasonably low reading the specs, so was prepared for disappointment. They ARE nicely water "resistant" in light rain, light snow conditions or even a (very) quick hosing off but with heavy rain or stepping into water the wet and cold is felt in socks and feet within seconds or a few minutes of saturation. My single "complaint" is that, for some reason, in my house with these shoes on I am a walking electrostatic lightning rod. To walk from couch a short distance across carpet I must discharge/ground myself before touching or kissing anyone or anything or receive a painful surprise zap! We must have a unique combination of furniture covering, blankets, carpet, otherwise there would be more reviewers mentioning this. As far as care; I hosed them off with any heavy mud or grass stains and brushed them maybe 8 times. There's not much support left in the footbed/soles at this point and they started squeaking when I walk at 14-15 months in but I'm very satisfied with the quality and value I got from them. If I can't find something better, I may purchase again even at the $10-20 higher current price tag.

CHECK YOUR INSOLES!
I don't know if this was supposed to be this way or if I just got a lucky set, but my shoes came with 2 insoles and I didn't know it. Which is cool, but they were both installed in the shoes when I got them, and I didn't know, which led me to believe these shoes were a really tight fit at first. I ended up wearing them a couple times to try to break them in and the second time I wore them all day and my feet were killing me so I had to see what was up. I thought maybe they sent me a wrong size, and even began questioning my own knowledge of my feet size, since the last time I put my foot on one of those measuring things at the shoe store I was probably like 6 years old, so hey, maybe I'm not a 10.5, maybe I'm an 11. And just when I had convinced myself I grew a shoe size I reached for the insole to pull it out to see if maybe it was some crazy cushion insole (as they did feel SUPER cushiony on the feet) to find that there was not one but 2 insoles in each shoe! I instantly realized what the problem was, and set one set of insoles aside, and re installed the singular set of insoles, and lo and behold, these are the comfiest damn shoes I have worn in some time, no joke. These went from being a questionable purchase to one of the best purchases in almost no time at all. These things hug your feet in all the right places, and make them feel not only really comfortable, but really secure, which gives your feet this like weird confidence to them. Like walking over things just feels... right. Took these things hiking on some trails, and even hiking to the coast of oregon through their sand dunes, and it handled it all very well. They are supposedly pretty waterproof, and haven't quite tested that, but they are pretty well sandproof and that was definitely a plus more me, cause I hate sandy shoes. Maybe I am biased from wearing skate shoes all my life, but I'm glad I decided to get a pair of "adventure shoes" cause they really make all the difference in the world.

Durable for years!
The Columbia Men’s First Generation Newton Ridge has quickly become one of my go-to pairs for both everyday wear and outdoor adventures. The shoes are incredibly lightweight, yet they provide excellent comfort and support, making them perfect for long days on your feet. I really appreciate the combination of the Omni-Grip outsole, which offers great traction on a variety of surfaces, and the breathable design that keeps my feet feeling fresh. Whether I’m out for a casual walk or tackling a short hike, these shoes handle it all with ease. However, I did notice that while the shoes are great for lighter trails and daily use, they might not offer enough support for more intense, rugged terrain. The cushioning is good but could be better for heavy-duty outdoor activities. Also, the fit might be a bit snug for those with wider feet, so I’d recommend trying them on first if you’re unsure. Overall, the Columbia Men’s First Generation Newton Ridge is a solid, versatile shoe for someone looking for comfort, performance, and style for moderate outdoor activities and casual use.

YOU NEED THESE BOOTS
The Newton Ridge Hiking Boots have to be the best set of boots I have found in a long time. I have used them on all terrains ranging from sand to mud and even at work on concrete and they have maintained their comfort. They are not like other hiking boots which press into the sides of your feet after wearing them for a while, but instead these are like walking on air. Their grippy soles have also been invaluable when I work outside wearing them as they have thankfully saved me from slipping in mud after a decent sized storm. The best uses for these boots would definitely revolve around anything outdoors as the durable sides also protect your feet from getting poked by small tree branches and other things you may step in. The only con of these guys have to be their original laces being slightly too long. I find that I have to double knot them in order to stop them from coming loose due to getting snagged on something and even then they sometimes find a way to get unclasped from the top quick removal hooks that you loop them through. However this design is compensated for at the end of the day when you want to quickly slip out of them and go on about your evening. After a solid six months of use, I would definitely recommend these boots to any aspiring outdoorsman or even to people who work indoors that require a durable yet forgiving boot.

Wow, Stylish and Comfort
Like some of you, I'm a huge fan of Keen and Merrell footware. I needed to replace my 1 year old Keen hiking boots, that I use for construction. I saw these for a really good price, and thought why not ? When I placed them on, I was like wow, these are more comfortable and lightweight than Keens. However, initial impressions can be deceiving, so I took my dogs for a 3 mile, 1 hour walk in the woods. These are a game changer. I was very skeptical for the price I paid, but they seem to be well made, and they are super stylish. I am afraid that these might not be suited for construction, first they are almost too good looking to bring to work, and second the soul seems softer. I'd be afraid to get a nail through them. I also dont know how these will hold up long term, but I'm already thinking about buying a second pair at this price.
