Great System. Very Pleased
With some of the reviews on this system ranging from ok to poor, I figured I should offer my own. Keep in mind that this, as any aftermarket system, is exactly that, aftermarket. With a price point under $200 you can't beat it. Price out an OEM replacement and you'll understand. I installed this system myself as I am quite familiar with electronics and this was not my first install by any means. I also purchased a PAC Audio SWC interface because I wanted to retain my steering wheel buttons control. You MUST follow the wiring scheme precisely. For the most part, most of the wire color codes (specifically for the speakers) were identical, however, there are a few that are NOT. Sometimes the description differs. If you're unsure or don't know, call support. Note: this system has the 3.5mm jack specifically for the SWC controller. Some of the old manuals you may download don't show this, they just indicate Key A, Key B and ground. I was pleased to find the 3.5mm jack which makes it a no-brainer. Although the system allows for reprogramming of the buttons, I chose to use the default settings and it was 100% plug and play! I also purchased the Metra 95-6511 for use in my Jeep. This installation was flawless and it looks great! Keep in mind you should check the fit in the dash panel while it's out. I had to move the system as far reward as it would go to get the perfect fit. I was very pleased with the functionality of the system. The GPS is a lot like a TomTom. The sound is great and it has two sub outputs. Instructions are ok. They leave some detail out but for the most part it's to the point. Bluetooth to my phone worked well as well as synchronizing my contacts. Conclusion: very nice system at a great price.

Everything on one screen
This is a very nice unit, the touch screen is awesome. Havent finished the install yet. So I'll know more later. So, it's been one month since I finished the install. The built in microphone isn't that great, and I had turned the unit off when I got home. The very next morning, the unit would not turn. Fabulous, I removed the unit, checked power and ground circuits with it unplugged. Circuits are not the problem. Plugged it back in and now it works again... after several emails, they are quick to respond, I have no resolution. I still have a radio that may not work tomorrow...I've also missed the free return window by two days, since the first email. Disappointed....

I like it, works very well. Updated 2012
finally got it installed. Some people say it looks dated. But compared to my stock CD player it is quite an improvement. Having a touch screen in a 1990s Chevy Blazer. Sounds as good as my original head unit because I'm using my aftermarket amps and speakers my original radio was failing in the stock one in the CD player was starting to give up. It was time to get a new one. And I wanted to upgrade to a touch screen. I'm quite happy with it. I think it's a little on the expensive side compared to what you can find on eBay but those are no names and that kind of scares me. Oh and I was wondering about this. If it had the illumination wire that goes to the headlight switch. And it does. You turn your headlights on and the unit dims for night time driving. In case anybody was interested. I was and I could not find the answer. And I've been unable to hook up the rear trigger for the camera. It seems my reverse light switch is down on the transmission. Have to consider what to do about that. I have a camera hooked up with the wireless transmitter. And that does work. But without the trigger wire hooked up it does not turn on. got a chance to use the navigation system today. Works very well. Much better than my cell phone and better than my old TomTom. Thought maybe I had a problem playing wav and wma music through an SD card. Playes thewav and wma on a CD fine. So I tried a new 32gig SD card. Because I have wav and mp3 music on my computer from downloading from my albums. And this one work just fine. Very happy! Hooked up triggering wire to b/u bulb. Works very well. My wireless transmitter is not good, seems like interfere. When there is .no interfere it has a great picture. Impressed. Recomend it for a very good head unit! It up to five stars. It really does work very well. Especially with my separate amplifiers and aftermarket speakers. the touchscreen does take a little getting used to. Sometimes it's very sensitive. GPS works perfectly. Plays my SD cards perfectly. Wrong with my CDs. GPS works perfectly. Plays my SD cards perfectly. Also please my CDs pretty much any format I have tried. WMA, Wav, Flac, Mp3.. Update, been a few weeks now. still very happy with this unit. there are quite a few little adjustments you can do for brightness and sound etc.etc. if you notice the last picture. It is of the volume knob. There is a lighted ring behind it. But the knob is too big to see the ring around the knob. What a shame. that is probably the most negative thing I have found so far. Oh and you disconnect the battery everything has to be reset. which is probably fairly normal. But there are a lot of settings that I like to change for my preference I hope Daniel one of the reviews. Said radio is to loud. There are master volume adjustments. The radio is loud but not crazy like he said. Try that adjustment. There u can all output volume. My problem is the map software was over 2 years old when i bought the stereo. Did not know at the time. I still contacted Boss within the warranty. It is a SD card. There solution was take out the whole stereo and sand it back! Would take weeks. Other solution was buy another one and exchange the sd card. I would have to pay$300. not sure why it was so much. ,Paid $160 for mine. I just wanted a up to date map! It would be to easy to just a sd card, OMG!! Other than that it works well. But maps are old. Tyed to bye one form the map company Ndrve. $50. Also had to a EU paypal account or Visa. Did not know that you had to have a EU Visa or EU paypal. got fed up. My phone Google map works better anyway. A little pissed. I moved to a new city and wanted a good dash map navigator. oh well.

Very Tight Return Window
I installed the unit in my 2004 Silverado without a lot of difficulty. It was a complicated task, but once I got the right electronic and dash mount interface kits configured and hooked up, the unit went in quickly. Investigate electronic adapters carefully; you need one that preserves the chimes that sound through the driver's door speaker. Most of the features work as advertised, but a few things disappoint me. GENERAL. The unit takes a long time to boot up. Reminds me of waiting for the tube radio in my grandfather's '55 Chevy to warm up. It doesn't remember all the settings from the previous session. CLOCK. The clock is a little flaky. It thinks Oregon is on mountain time, so it changes the setting when I cross the Columbia River...unless the navigation module is inactive. It will let me reset the time, but it changes it back immediately. It reads the time from a radio broadcast, but it ignores what it reads if it has already decided to change the time zone. NAVIGATION. The unit displays the warning disclaimer every time I start the navigation software, even though I was using it just before shutting down. The navigation display is cute but uninformative. It flashes street names briefly in balloons one at a time. The zoom is adjustable, but it switches to its preferred display almost immediately after I change it. And the navigation voice switches accents randomly as I drive. RADIO. The radio screen displays the current frequency in large characters, but the numbers on the preset buttons are too small for me to read while I'm watching the road. I like the search function, but I wish it would display its results in larger characters. BLUETOOTH. The Bluetooth connection is unreliable, and the incoming call screen lacks an obvious "Answer" button. USB. The unit does not recognize my iPod Nano. This problem is the straw that broke the camel's back. I haven't tried the SD interface, and I don't expect to. The unit is coming out of my car. I have lowered my rating to one star. Performance of the unit itself may rate two stars, but the vendor's return policy limits returns to thirty days from purchase date. In my opinion, that deserves a negative rating. It took me thirty days to get the right adapters to get the unit installed, and I needed a little time to figure out that some features didn't work very well. Buy the BOSS unit if you want to try it out, but get it installed and tested quickly, or you'll have an expensive paperweight like I do.

Good price but some issues
It's a good solid unit and does the job well. Screen is crisp and clear while the sound output for an onboard amp is pretty decent, it drives x4 (6 by 9) speakers in my truck pretty well. However, the GPS nav voice is awful beyond words and there is no way to lower it by itself or change its tone. It also will not pause your music or audio book when it speaks causing everything to lose a few seconds. My particular unit would not keep its clock time after a few days like I pulled the battery, however the rest of the setting seem to stay. Its cheap, it does the job while driving me insane because it's telling me multiple times that my turn is coming within the span of seconds while that awful speak and spell British voice bleats on.

#1 in "Bang for the Buck" category (again). Indtalled in 2004 Ford Explorer
There are better Car Stereo/DVD Players/GPS Unit/ Bluetooth Devices etc. available, but what makes the BOSS AUDIO BV9386NV worth 5 stars is the "bang-for-the-buck" category. This is my second Boss stereo, but when I sold my previous vehicle the stereo got sold with it. The main reason I bought this one was the features, price and my experience with the previous unit. I've finally checked out all of the features and I am more than satisfied. It plays DVD's perfectly, the audio rivals stereos twice the price, the Blue Tooth easily paired to my iPhone 6S Plus and works perfectly, I plugged in a jump drive into the slot and played MP3's stored on the drive, but the BOSS AUDIO BV9386NV required an adapter. The front panel has a mini USB port, so it required an adapter (supplied). I didn't spend much time using the GPS system, but I did a couple of experiments which worked fine. I've read that additional updates to the GPS maps requires a payment, but I haven't delved very deep into that (yet). Otherwise it worked exactly as advertised and has absolutely great audio and the screen is crisp and clear on DVD's and other video and the (optional) backup camera looks great too (a great update for less than $20). There are helpful videos on YouTube that will help make the installation easier. The price beats anything with even half the features, so I highly recommend this unit.. and since I am a returning customer I am developing great brand loyalty to Boss Audio.

Totally Surprised!
I ended up buying this unit for my 09 Wrangler Unlimited. The stock "non Bluetooth" unit was blah. I didn't want to sink hundreds of dollars into a Kenwood or Apline unit since it's my winter vehicle. I was skeptical at first. Usually cheap means just that, Cheap. I was floored. The sound quality on this unit is AMAZING compared to the stock Chrysler unit. Night and day. Crystal clear. Blue tooth calls pick up and other end hear perfectly clear. GPS is clear and responsive. DVD quality also impressive for such a low cost device. Install in the jeep was nightmare, had to rip out the Metal bracket inside the dash and with no room left something to be desired. But persistence won. You can NOT install this in the wrangler if it has the metal radio bracket inside. My 09 did. The new unit is much larger in height compared to the stock unit. Only had a day but so far so good. Working perfectly as expected. Now to replace the stock speakers to get even better sound. But just replacing the unit and leaving the stock speakers in place, should make Chrysler Ashamed their unit sounds like a wet dog.

Radio was great, Navigation not so much!!
I purchased this radio for my 2011 Ford F-250 truck. It was a good addition to what I had, A Stock AM-FM. I used it every day. The Navigation worked good except tor programing addresses but took some time... I drive a lot to the KC area via interstate 49. The navigation show me I was on interstate 29 ????. I drive that route regularly and I know what highway I am on... So I went to the NDrive App to update the navigation to see if that would correct the issue. There were no updates available, however, there was, Under "my Products" a sync you could do and it showed that my version was out of date so I did the sync replaced the SD card in the unit and NOTHING, Said "no map found". I contacted Tech support and after a wait of about 4 days I received a reply on how to reinstall the maps did as instructed and nothing the sent more instructions, I followed to the tee. Still nothing. Finally I got it to load and it tells me on the screen "out of Road". I was advised to redo install and the go to Sync. I told them that is what caused the issue the first time, but, the said it would work so I did and again it messed up... Tech Support would not try it themselves and send me an SD card to use. Trashed the radio and purchased a new one. I will never purchase a Navigation program that NDrive would support... very poor..

Item works great. Had to buy Canadian maps
Item works great. Had to buy Canadian maps. You would think that units sold in Canada would come pre-installed with the country it's being sold in...
