Seitenbacher Vegetable Broth and Seasoning - 5 oz. can

I was looking for a delicious, yet healthful vegan vegetable broth powder and came across this brand. I did my research online and almost every site had favorable reviews for this product. Reading some of the other reviews for other brands (*cough, Vogue, **) I found them suspicious (always need to be careful with reviews, since companies hire people to write positive reviews). I was torn between buying this product or Rapunzel... I was not familiar with this brand, but was familiar with Rapunzel because I bought it in the past at a local Whole Foods and thought it was adequate but did not like the fact that the cubes contained so much palm oil (took forever for a cube to dissolve into boiling water). I am in no means a crunchy granola vegan and think that I am pretty discerning when it comes to taste. I followed the directions of this product and dissolved 1 teaspoon into 1 cup boiling water. *Pros* The result was a fine tasting broth... some of the yeast extract did not fully dissolve into the solution (I stirred quite a bit) but the broth was good nonetheless... surprisingly, the broth was not as salty as I thought... Additionally, you can see all the bits and pieces of the herbs that this product contains. *Cons* The container is a bit flimsy - it was hard to pull off the inner aluminum foil. If not careful you will have vegetable powder all over yourself. This may be trivial, but the packaging is very outdated. It's 2012 and the company can surely hire a graphic designer that can produce better packaging design than what they have now... While I was researching, it seemed as though a fair amount of people make their own vegan vegetable powder. Almost all recipes use nutritional yeast as its base, but differ on the rest of the ingredients (for instance, once used powder versions of many ingredients, while another recipe basically took whole vegetables chopped up, cubed, and dehydrated and food processed into powder form). I prefer powder broth over cubes - it's a lot more convenient, and you have better control and adjust the strength of your broth. With this said, the broth does in some way feel like it is missing something... I might purchase the Rapunzel powder to see how good that product is. I predict that I might get tired of this broth (considering Amazon sells it to you in a pack of 6) it isn't a bad idea to have a back-up brand to change up the flavor. The Rapunzel powder however has more salt, and seems to have less vegetable ingredients (I like the fact that this brand has a lot of vegetable ingredients, and some that are not common in the U.S., like lovage). What Rapunzel has going for it is that it is organic, while this is just "all natural" (which is fine). Buy all your vegan broth products on Amazon - you will get an amazing price. I can't find any of these products at a normal supermarket, and Whole Foods charges an arm and a leg for these things. Even with many new Trader Joe's that just opened up in NYC giving Whole Foods competition and a run for its money, TJ just doesn't have the wide variety of niche products that Whole Foods has. Update**: This product tastes BETTER than the Rapunzel vegetable broth powder (I have both). Using the recommended directions for both products, Seitenbacher has a deeper, more complex flavor whereas Rapunzel's tastes very salty (salt is the #1 ingredient in Rapunzel). If you want flavor, go for Seitenbacher - if you are obsessed about everything being organic, then go for Rapunzel.

I started using this veggie broth more than 20 years ago, but the only place I could find it was a local health-food store. When I moved far away, there went my favorite broth. Thank you Amazon for stocking this broth. It's a yellowish powder with flecks of veggies in it. The flavor is superb and will make your dishes taste excellent! The lower sodium content speaks to the full flavor of the product. With other broths, you first taste salt, then flavor. With this product, you taste a blend of veggies. You will *probably* have to add salt to your dish. but YOU can control it instead of working around a way too salty product. The other big plus is the nutritional yeast that is used as the base. Healthy, flavorful, super good for you! The product has about a one year shelf life. I use it in stir-fry, soups, stews, curries, sauces, dips. It functions well in every savory thing! It comes from Germany, in case you are curious.

The flavor is rich and savory, perfect for soups, stews, and even as a seasoning for roasted vegetables. It’s become a go-to in my kitchen. As a vegan option, it’s ideal for plant-based cooking, and I love that it doesn’t contain any artificial additives or preservatives. Plus, I can actually pronounce every ingredient, which is a nice bonus! We have been using this broth powder instead of buying liquid broth from the grocery store and it has been a game changer. No more hauling multiple boxes of salty liquid, say hello to your new life. This broth tastes pretty great when it's a part of soup, making pasta, literally anything that has other flavors. However I tried to make a very plain bowl of soup recently and found that I don't love the taste of the broth by itself. It was essentially just broth with noodles, but man the broth does not stand on its own very well. It's a tad bland, definitely less sodium than other powdered broths I've had in the past. And it leaves an oily film taste in your mouth. I still highly recommend it as it's an incredible option for meals without having to make your own broth, or buy it pre-made (don't pay for fancy water!).

Love the taste of the product - 1 tsp in hot water is a yummy and healthy bedtime drink. The ingredient list is all natural - so much better than the artificial ingredients in a bullion cube - use it in many recipes.

I have had a very hard time finding clean powdered broth. This has vegetables in it...nothing else. I use it all of the time. Amazing stuff. Tastes great. I wish I could buy it in a bigger tub!

This Seitenbacher Vegetable Broth is my absolute favorite — it hits that nostalgic, comforting note that instantly takes me back to sipping steaming bowls of broth in Poland. One dash and your vegetables, rice, or salads suddenly taste like they went to culinary boot camp and came back as flavor ninjas. It’s all-natural, vegan, and packed with lovage (a herb that makes me feel fancy without trying), and the instant mix is ridiculously convenient. Seriously, I’ve stocked my pantry like it’s a shrine to Seitenbacher — because a world without this broth is a world I don’t want to live in.

This has a nice flavor and mixes well in warm water. I did not try in cold. It took a long time to arrive. If I order again it won't be when I need it because it took so long to get here I had to order a different brand. I will see if I like it enough to order a month before I need it again.

This product used to be sold in health stores in the UK but I could not find it anywhere. It's the only veggie broth that is oil free-very rare. It mixes well in water and tastes great. I have dropped a star as it's expensive for the size of the tub.

Very tasty
