Good DVD
I have had these discs before as I have several Panasonic DVD recorders/players and these are the only ones suitable. Time after time I record delete and record again and they seem to last forever. I would not buy any other having used these. However, next time I will buy in a store as when they arrived the packet inside the parcel was already open and every plastic case was damaged and broken with shards of sharp plastic falling out even though the parcel itself was intact. I can't be sure but as the parcel didn't look battered could it be possible that it could have been sent to me this way? The seller probably thought the DVDs more important and not the cases. However, the cases are important to me and I managed to only save 2 our of 10 by swapping tops and bottoms. I expect perfect product when buying new. I could tell by the tone of e-mail replies that I was not going to get very far as nothing wrong with DVDs so suggested and accepted a partial refund rather than return. I am happy to say the discs I have used so far seem to record Ok so all I need is new cases.

Awsome technology and good price also
This reivew is more useful to those who have DVD recorders. This is my first encounter with DVD-RAM, and I have got to say, I have been missing out. I have recently bought a Panasonic DVD recorder which can burn on to all formats, but the there are limitations to what you can do on the other formats which I learned very quickly. These RAM discs are turely a technological marvel and suprised as to why these did not become industry standard. You can EDIT the discs like deleting scences, chapters, combine chapters, etc.. The picture quality is also stunning, without the loss of quality after over recording many times over. In-fact Panasonic say 100,000 times you can record over without the loss of quality. This format is ideal for VHS replacement. Once you have inserted a RAM disc into a recorder it is ready, where as other formats require initialising, formating, etc.. Obviously depending on recorder and format this can vary, but I have to say the RAM's are awsome, I use to be a critic of this format before, but perhaps there still some mileage in this format. The price is also a bonus, one of the cheapest I have seen. Nice one.

Slow but reliable readability
These Panasonic DVD-RAM discs work a treat in my Panasonic DVD recorder allowing me to transfer recorded stuff to my PC. However, not all PC/DVD drives can read DVD-RAM discs so if you want to do the same, you should check first. Initially had a minor problem when trying to format the new discs in the player, as it said it didn't recognise the disc and would allow me to format them. If you ensure drive select is set to HDD and NOT DVD, then insert the new disc, then select DVD drive, the format menu becomes available. Error free recording, albeit at a pretty low speed compared to DVD-Rs, but reliable discs.

Understand what you're buying
Understand what you're buying, I bought these 'Panasonic RAM' discs to use with my 'Panasonic RAM' DVD recorder thinking that they would be better than the Memorex discs I normally buy from Amazon. Unfortunately the Panasonic discs are hopeless, they either take an age to 'Wake up' like a minute or more and some won't wake up at all, that's what Panasonic call 'unresponsive'. There's a warning note in the cover of the disc that says for DVD-RW only, then in letters less than a millimetre high, it goes on to say that if the disc is left in the unresponsive state permanent damage may result to the DVD player/recorder and they say you should visit [...] to see how to resolve this potential problem. I was really disappointed as I've got to throw the discs away so they don't damage the recorder. So unless you've got the got time to waste chasseing solutions make sure that you understand what you're buying. Kind Regards ... Andy Davies

Not for long term storage.
I have been a Panasonic Fan for many years , but lately have found these discs Do Not ,at times ,Retain data. Do not understand this failure , it possibly started with discs I bought through Amazon on the internet.

Fantastic for Panasonic machines
I've bought many of these disks over the last few years (around 120), sometimes from Amazon, sometimes not and cannot recommend them highly enough. Having said that, I should start with the only big downside of these disks, which is that they are only really compatible with Panasonic DVD Recorders (although I believe they are also compatible with the current Panasonic Blu-Ray Recorders). This has never been a problem for me, though, since I would only use Panasonic equipment to record and play back television. These disks are so superior to DVD +R/RW and DVD -R/RW that it is a mystery to me that, over time, they haven't blown the other formats into obsolescence. To all intents and purposes, these disks behave like a mini hard drive and the main advantages that set them apart are: - can record one programme and watch another previously recorded on the disk at the same time; - easy editing, for example to get rid of adverts; - no need to initialise or finalise the disks; - most importantly of all, reliability. Gone are the days of disks not being recognised or developing faults of one sort or another. If you own a Panasonic DVD Recorder, these are the disks to buy.

These DVD-RAM discs are fine.transfering VHS tape to these discs work fine ony downside is you can'not play the discs on a laptop or pc and not able to format the discs on a laptop or pc have to use them on a DVD player but otherwise ok.
