Who you think you are is not as important as who God says you are... Many of us wrestle with the gap between our weaknesses and our dreams, between who we are and who God says we are meant to be. We feel unqualified to do Godโs work or to live out the calling we imagine. But God has a way of using our weaknesses for good. In fact, God loves unqualified people. In (Un)Qualified, Pastor Steven Furtick helps you peel back the assumptions youโve made about yourself and see yourself as God sees you. Because true peace and confidence come not from worldly perfection but from acceptance: Godโs acceptance of you, your acceptance of yourself, and your acceptance of Godโs process of change. This is a book about understanding your identity in light of who God is. Itโs a book about coming to terms with the good, the bad, and the unmentionable in your life and learning to let God use you. Itโs about charging into the gap between your present and your hopes and meeting God there. After all, God canโt bless who you pretend to be. But he longs to bless who you really are; a flawed and broken person. Good thing for us that God is in the business of using broken people to do big things. Being unqualified is God's favorite qualification... Our culture tells us that the answer to our failures is to fix them. The solution to our weaknesses is to hide them. The secret to our success is to appear as flawless as possible. But Godโs qualifying system is different than the worldโs. So is his view of our weaknesses, our purpose, and our true selves. In (Un)Qualified, Steven Furtick explores who God is as the great โI AM,โ and then helps us discover our own identity. Delving into the story of Jacob, Furtick invites us to acknowledge our weaknesses and ask God to work through them. The truth is, God has created us to be more, to accomplish more, and to love life more than we ever thought possible. But to become who he has called us to be, we must embrace who we are right now. (Un)Qualified equips us to face obstacles and failures without losing a sense of purpose. We can have a thriving sense of hope that God is working in us and through us, not in spite of our weaknesses but often as a direct result of them. We are all (UN)Qualified
Pastor Furtick has yet again written a book that is both powerful for the individual, and invigorating for Christ's Church. Full disclosure, I am an Elevator and member of Pastor Furtick's church, Elevation Church in Charlotte, NC, and thank God everyday that my family and I have the opportunity to receive teachings directly from this amazing man of God every weekend. I remember, a long time ago, wondering what it was like to live in Australia near Hillsong Church, and how amazing it must be for those lucky members to be able to receive a blessing and teaching each weekend from such a game changing, world renowned church, and now my family and I know exactly how it feels, cause we're some of the lucky ones. What I love most about this entire book is how it came to be. This is only a minor spoiler alert that is described literally in the opening lines of the book, but to make it quick and simple, I'll shorten it. One day, while preparing for church, Pastor Furtick had a YouTube video playing of a well-known and respected theologian who was being interviewed. During a lightning round of questions, this theologian was asked to summarize the names that followed with one word. When it came time for my pastors name to be called, the man's response was "unqualified." Hence, the basis of this book. Like Pastor Furtick, and all the rest who are blessed by this book, I am thankful for both the algorithm within YouTube that suggested this video to him, and for the theologians response, because it caused a revolution within my pastor, and subsequently within our church, and now within our nation and world. We are ALL (UN)Qualified in some way or another, and in fact, as this book illustrates, God often uses the least qualified among us to do the most miraculous and tremendous works. If you've ever felt that a part of you, whether it be your spirituality, physicality, morality, personality, and all the other "ity" words you can think of has held you back, or kept you from achieving a goal or desire of your heart, you need to read this book. If you are reading my review right now and saying, "Well, I have none of those 'ity' words I can identify with," then you most definitely need to read this book because your lying to yourself, and holding yourself back from what God has planned to do through you, for you, and for his church and this world! God Bless you All!

Encouraging reed
This book has a message on that you could and should be shared with believers as well as non believers. My difficulties are addressed and directs you on how to see yourself differently. Maybe it should have a warning label once you reed you will no longer be confident in the unqualified label you have chosen to place on yourself.

Think You're Not Good Enough? A MUST READ!
I can't fully express how much I love this book. Steven Furtick's writing style is easy to read, and the information is thought provoking and eye opening even to the mature Christian. I highly recommend this book to everyone who thinks they are not good enough the way they are. Realizing that our relationship with Christ is a lifetime "process" and not just a one-time revelation that will change us forever puts my Christian walk into perspective. God doesn't expect me to be perfect just because I'm saved, and He wants me to depend upon Him constantly rather than taking away what I perceive as weakness in my life. Relying on Him is what we were born to do, yet He gives us free will and a choice. So many people feel that following Christ will stifle them and restrict their lives. The earlier we BELIEVE that He only wants good things for us and we trust His guidance, the more accepting of ourselves we will be...and the more peaceful our lives will be. There will be less confusion that comes from constantly trying to change. Who doesn't want that?

"We shouldn't lose sight of what is eternal"
"(Un)Qualified" is for those who feel like they need to fix their weaknesses before they can be acceptable to God. The author talked about God's name being "I AM" and how it matters how we fill in our "third words" ("I am ____"). Maybe the weaknesses we're most concerned with aren't the ones God's working on, and God uses people who are willing to depend on Him. He talked about not comparing ourselves with others, setting the correct goals, and many other topics. He referred to Jacob from the Bible, his own life, and others to illustrate his insights. It's written in a casual tone with mild humor, and it felt like an "I'm in the trenches with you" pep talk. He made many good points. Overall, I'd recommend this book to those who feel trapped by their weaknesses. Here are some quotes (from an ARC, so they may not perfectly match the final copy): From page 53: "The belief that God is more interested in our perfection than our relationship with him is the birthplace of insecurity." From page 124: "...our relationship with God will continue for eternity. That should tell us something: we shouldn't lose sight of what is eternal in our efforts to improve what is temporary." I received this book as a review copy from the publisher.

Inspirational AND Applicable
(Un)qualified is a Fantastic read for anyone who may question their own abilities in God's calling for their lives. It is clear and simple and enjoyable to read. It doesn't feel like its talking at you but involves the reader and calls them to think specifically so there's personal application. It also isn't like a list but answers questions that the reader may have. It uses current examples and biblical examples to show it's points of how God qualifies us when we look to him, and how sometimes it's not how we expect him to. Overall this book is well written and organized to benefit anyone who reads it with practical uses for it's lessons and shows us more about God's Character. Highly suggest this book as it's worth a read for any Christian.

God is the one who qualifies
Steven put into perspective and words that God loved me as I am, I have cared little of what people thought of me only what God thought of me from an early age and I have been wonderfully blessed by God with a wonderful very large family and friends
