Q: My model 1370 is very hard to open. Is there a way to adjust the tesion on the blade?

Like a baseball glove, it's going to take some working in. Open and close your new blade over and over again to let all the mechanical parts start to operate together. You should notice improvement in the action within a day or two and after about a week the knife should work as it was designed to

Q: Is the lock release at the top rear of the handle ?

George: I am showing you my (very used) Kershaw, not the same model, however the linerlock works exactly the same... if you look at the picture of the open camshaft knife, you will see a half-moon area just behind the tang that is where you will find the locking mechanism after the knife is open and locked. You just slide it out of the way and the blade will be able to close. Pete p2-services.
