I have a nylon one and it only rated at 25 lbs** A: This one is leathe and rather substantial.I would put it on par with good harness leather and not hesitate to put 50 lbs or more on it.Although I only use about 20 lbs on it. **Q: How thick is the chain? Will it fit through weight plates with standard size hole (1" diameter)?** A: The chain width is about 3/4 of an inch. This would fit in a standard size of 1'' diameter. **Q: Does this do front of hte neck?** A: Jeff, it works the whole neck brutha....... I use it in the gym; I remove the lat pull down bar and loop the chain thru the lat P/down cable connector end... I place a towel on my head...then the head strap...that head strap is thick and strong and without the towel on my head the leather grinds against my scalp/ears....use the head strap as you would the Nautilus 4 way neck exercise machine.....if not familiar view YouTube clips I'm certain. You may also use barbell plates but you will be very limited in your range/movements because you will outgrow quickly the weight of the plates like I did with the 25lb...when you hook the heads trap to the lat pull down cable, I go each set all four angles of my neck one at a time of course...the lat pull down cable I work the neck without the clumsiness of dropping plates and swinging of the plates......this thing is so badass I had to yell at a fellow gym member who thought that my head strap belonged to the gym; I was putting it in my bag and he proceeded to open his mouth accusing me of stealing the gear. After lighting his ass up in front of everyone informing him that it was MY PERSONAL gear, he learned quickly to STFU ....This thing is SO valuable you do not know unless you have one....and if someone tries to steal yours!!! In the old days, they didn't have neck machines. You would the chains through weight plates. Then stand, lay on something and rotate your neck back and forth to get a big neck. This thing was started back in the day because wrestlers and football players need a big neck. Also it was popular in the old days to have a big neck. Look at pics of pro wrestlers or football players from the 1970-1990. Now a days the popularity is NOT to have a big neck. I used this device once. I bought this particular one. The hard leather is not the way to go! It had a knot in it somehow and killed my skull. I just recommend using a good neck building machine at a gym. Be very careful when working the neck. You can strain it easy...... I did many times and it really sucks. Don't get tempted to "Beast it!" Just be cool and work it normal. You will se your neck grow rapidly, but don't be superman, you will strain it.
