This little bean pot will work in every situation for me. I will soak my beans overnight in this pot and then rinse and either bake or simmer. I am able to use on the top of the stove and inside the oven with equal measures of success. (I think beans stay intact better and are creamier when baked in the oven.) Because this bean pot is relatively small, it is not at all heavy to insert/remove from the oven or lift onto the stove. It is light weight and will adequately hold a 16-20 oz bag of dry beans for cooking. It works with all kinds of stove top surfaces, including induction. The one that I received did not have any bowing or significant dents, so it works quite well on top of the stove. Have metal utensils? Do not fear! Thanks!** A: I think the pot was made in Mexico **Q: So the dimensions given above say 10.6 x 8.6 x 6 inches. Is the 10.6 the width with the handle, 8.6 without the handle and the 6" the bottom width?** A: The 10.6 is with the handle; the 8.6 is the top w/out handle; 6" is the height **Q: Can this be used to cook on a charcoal grill?** A: Yes. I don't see why not. Mine has been used on top of gas grill and was ok. Of course this pot should not be heated up when empty. **Q: Why do they say not to use on glass top stoves.** A: From my experience with using a granite ware pot with trying to boil water, the glass only heats up so much and turns off, it gradually gets up to temp, this would be to prevent the glass from cracking and breaking. This 4qt pot is the perfect in between size pot. And the Speckled pots have been around forever...tried and true. These are strong steel but light weight. Highly recommend. Just wish the sticker glue came off easier. The heating of this pot is perfect for simmering and no burning. It's a wonderful all around cooking pot and you don't have to worry about scratches.
