I've tried several techniques such as " make your puppy stop, sit, walk back 10 steps and try again, provide extra special treats, etc. None of those worked. Other puppy parents suggested the gentle lead that wraps around the pup's nose to prevent pulling. I'm hesitant to use those - and because of that, I'm afraid I'll use it wrong and hurt her. So, after researching several different " no-pull harnesses " I chose the Barkbay. I love this one for a few reasons. #1 - has a grip handle on the back of the harness near the neck.....I already have a harness with the grip handle and although I've never had to use it, so thankful it's there. #2 There are two clips - one in the front and one on the back - I attach her leash to the front clip when we walk to curb the pulling. When she wants to run or pull, this harness and the way the leash attaches to it, it prevents her from fully extending her front leg - it doesn't hurt - just annoys her and she slows down, Yay ! Now, after a few minutes of " walking slow ", I'll switch the leash to the back clip - for me, this is where the grip handle is necessary. I grip the handle, switch the leash position and continue walking. If she starts pulling again, I'll switch the leash back to the front for a few minutes. We've only had this harness for two days, but I'm happy with the progress so far. This was a great choice for the both of us. Hope this helps. P.S. The puppy grew out of her tiny puppy harness and has now graduated to her Barkbay. I bought 2 others for the other 2 dogs. Beyond happy. This harness cannot compare. Love the handle on the top. Color bright pink which is beyond cute on a black dog. Also cute on my brown dog, so I would say cute on any color dog. Couple of people at doggie day camp were asking me where I got this harness. Theirs were so complicated and downright ugly. LOL.
