Is it still useful?** A: I guess you could use it as just a litter box, but that is kind of expensive when you can just use a box for that.. You really need a water source, drain, and power to make this work for you. It doesn't have to be the toilet or washing machine hook ups. I have one I hooked up to water and drain in the pantry. I just had the plumber pipe in the water and drain. Works great. Hope this helps. **Q: How is the CatGenie dome for larger cats? Can they get in and out easily? Or rather does it solve the pellets all over my house issue?** A: My cats are 14 (female fat cat) and 22 lbs (panther-looking Tomcat) and neither of them would fit in with the Dome in place. The big one actively popped it off and moved it so that he could use it, the smaller one simply pooped in front of it when the Dome was added. The side walls in concert with a Black Hole litter mat work to reduce the amount of granules tracked, but think of these things as gigantic grains of sand. They inevitably get everywhere. **Q: Would this work for a 7 lb dog?** A: Sure I don't know why not. But 7 lb he might have problems stepping up to get into the CatGenie. **Q: So to be clear the dome comes with the side walls, right?** A: Yes. It is very solid and gives them privacy.
