If you stop walking before 10 has been counted it will not include them in your total. Stop starting in a confined area with under 10 steps at a time will not count accurately. If you are performing similar movements to walking it will count them as steps such as sawing wood, tapping your foot or other up/ down movements with a slight forward/ back motion similar to walking. Great on a walk not so good in the kitchen. If you buy one that counts every movement, it will also be inaccurate as it will measure every crouch/ reach Bob or trip. Speaking as an engineer, it would be very difficult to produce anything more accurate for this size and cost. This little counter is perfect for outdoor walks, holidays and exercising the dog not so good whilst dusting the house. This is only my opinion. I hope it is useful.. **Q: How accurate is the step counting if using the lanyard?** A: I have used the lanyard and just had it in my pocket it’s been accurate each time with both I even cheated and set the step counter on my phone to see and they were both the same, so yes I’d recommend this item you won’t be disappointed **Q: Can this work if attached to my shoe?** A: It works in a pocket, in a back pack, in my hand so see no reason why it wouldn’t work on a shoe if ted to the shoelace! Just clip on and go with confidence! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ simple to use *by D***Y on 27 June 2026* I use the Pedometer daily and it works great and is very simple to operate ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ simple but accurate *by U***E on 13 March 2019* This pedometer works on a more advanced principle than the old pendulum method and returns reasonably accurate results. I used to use Omron pedometers, but this is much simpler & its only function is to count steps. You need to press reset every time you want to record steps otherwise it will just keep adding to the previous days total. I bought this to compare steps with my fitness watch. Surprisingly, they record acceptably similar totals. My fist test was to walk 1,000 steps and count them myself. The 3DFitBud recorded 960 (-40) and the watch 950 (-50). Both devices do not record the first 10 steps (possibly they also may not complete to the end of your walk?). The next walk was 7,230 steps approx (I did not count these). Both devices were withing 3 steps of each other this time, which is surprising. The supplied lanyard is an important feature IMO as many pedometers are lost when they work loose from your belt. Secure the cord to a belt hoop or just wear it around your neck. It will also work fine carried in your pocket.
