It's a 64oz mason jar, but with the filter filled with 8oz of ground coffee it's slightly less. The instructions say to use 8oz of coffee grounds with 64oz water, I didn't come up with that myself. Also, you have to grind your own beans: the pre-ground beans from the store are too fine and seeped out of my metal tea strainers that I already had from a different brand/appliance. I didn't experiment with putting store bought grounds in this strainer, no desire to potentially drink coffee with fine grounds in it. So in addition to this pitcher I ended up buying a Black&Decker basic coffee grinder, to get coarse grinds. I also labeled the lid with the date/time my 24-hour batch would be ready, with a red wax pencil. you can use masking tape or whatever, sharpie washes off plastic with dish soap sometimes.
