Q: Is this good for beginners that just want to try smoking meats without dropping alot of cash on something they may or may not use that often?

Actually yes. It is fairly easy to use. I would get a cast iron box to put wood chips in and put it near the charcoal. You can then control how much or how little smoke is in the chamber by opening or closing the chimney. You may want to look into getting something to seal the lid better. Q: What tools are needed to put this grill together

Hi you will need a socket set. And a Philips screw driver and a pair of pliers. It takes about a hour to put together. It’s a excellent grill. The food tast so good with charcoal cooking. Enjoy

Q: Where can I get a grease cup which fits to this grill? What I bought from Amazon was too big.

I haven't used one. My grease, if any, goes right into the charcoal.
