Make sure to squish your clay down by hand before inserting and it won't be a problem . I also wiped the rollers down before running my clay through the first time so no issues with black streaks etc. I'm very satisfied with it. I'm so glad I didn't let negative reviews dissuade me. I would invest in a clay rolling tube because it's eaier to clean. If you happen to use the Pasta machine you will need to take it apart every time you use it, and take my word for it it is very hard to clean!!! I take mine apart once a month and give it a good cleaning, more often if I use it more, The problem with ary dry ckay is it only take a short time to start drying Thus in my eyed. The part of the clamp that goes into the main part isn’t really “fitted” so it’s a little awkward to use. The handle for turning is nice and easy to grip and turn (I have hand weakness issues). The crank handle falls out easily. Seems well made and sturdy. We’ve already used it quite a bit for just 5 days.
