Costs more, gets more. I do not know whether the ST120 and BK120 transmitter are identical other than the ST120 being rated up to 300V while the BK120 transmitter is limited to 150V. The 2 devices look almost the same (see my photo of them side by side). I simultaneously plugged in both kinds to different electrical outlets, and the BK120 tester identified each circuit on the breaker panel. This is not how you are supposed to use the device -- I did this because I was curious. Good luck to all of you. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent for tracing circuits. *by G***U on January 19, 2026* Excellent, circuit tracer. The transmitter is powered by the AC, so no batteries needed. The receiver works great, is easy to use. After plugging in the transmitter, make sure you hold the receiver perpendicular to the breakers. Scan all breakers once and ignore the beeps, as it’s automatically adjusting the sensitivity on the first scan. Then scan again and you’ll get very accurate locating information. I tried a cheaper scanner first that had a very nice digital transmitter with an OLED display. It required batteries and showed voltage and wiring faults, but it completely failed at tracing circuits. I was very careful to follow the instructions exactly. I highly recommend the few extra dollars for this Fluke, it was well worth the extra $20.
