Review: Better features than the Canon item, v. well made, and far cheaper than Canon. Highly Recommended. - Purchased for my Canon EOS 5DSR that has plenty of built in features, but doesn’t have GPS or GEO-Tagging for photos or video (which I find to be disappointing for a 52Mp full frame sensor with all the cost it implies. Having bought a couple of Canon GP-E2 GPS units for other lower ended Canon DSLR’s, I decided to look elsewhere instead of paying over £270 to Canon. This item is approximately £160 and comes with far more features than the Canon one does. It can double up for recording where you’ve been and then see the route on a map without necessarily being attached to a camera. It is supplied with a couple of cables, one of which is the charging cable. Unfortunately I lost mine and unlike the Canon unit, this one doesn’t have the ability to swap out the flat battery (a minor irritation, that I will resolve with the seller, then report back).
Review: Initial problems resolved... - I had a few initial problems getting the device to gps stamp my photographs. I discovered that it is critical to get the connections on the hot shoe correct and test the device before setting out to take your photographs. After that I have had no problems. That and the cost is why there are only 4 stars.
