Review: Superb compact starter kit for kids—quiet mesh heads and massive upgrade potential! - User: Starter kit for my son We bought the Alesis Nitro Max as a starter electronic kit for my son, and it has been an absolute standout. If you want to introduce drums into the house without driving the rest of the household (or the neighbours) crazy, this kit hits the sweet spot between realistic feel, sound quality, and compact design. What Makes It Brilliant: Quiet & Natural Feel: The white mesh heads provide fantastic rebound while keeping physical acoustic stick noise to a minimum. For an instrument as inherently loud as drums, it’s about as quiet and domestic-friendly as you could ever reasonably hope for with headphones. Space-Saving Footprint: The rack setup is about as compact as you can get for a full kit. It tucks neatly into the corner of a bedroom or home studio without completely dominating the room. Great Sounds & Connectivity: The module features punchy, realistic kit presets and includes Bluetooth audio streaming, which makes playing along to practice tracks or lesson videos off a tablet completely seamless. Huge Upgrade Path: Because the Nitro Max is so popular and uses standard rack sizing, there is a massive second-hand market for extra pads, toms, and cymbals. Expanding the kit as skills progress is easy and inexpensive. NB, the control unit only supports one more tom and cymbal. Setup Tip & Minor Quirk: Snare Arm Tendency to Slip: The rack-mounted L-rod arm for the 10" dual-zone snare pad works loose over time under heavier rimshots or enthusiastic playing. Top fix: We swapped the pad off the rack clamp and put it on a traditional standalone snare basket stand. It completely isolates the snare vibrations from the rack, eliminates slipping, and allows for much easier height and angle adjustments. Bottom Line: An exceptional electronic drum kit that punches well above its price tag. Perfect for beginners and young drummers, easily upgraded, and quiet enough for daily home practice. Highly recommended! Review: Excellent Entry-Level Electronic Drum Kit with Realistic Mesh Heads - I've been very impressed with the Alesis Nitro Max. Assembly was straightforward, and the kit feels surprisingly sturdy once set up. The mesh drum heads are a standout feature, providing a much more realistic playing experience compared to the rubber pads commonly found on lower-priced electronic kits. The module offers a good selection of drum sounds, and the Bluetooth connectivity is a welcome addition, making it easy to stream music and play along with songs or lessons. The included USB MIDI support also opens up plenty of options for recording and using third-party drum software. The kit is relatively compact and works well for home use, especially when paired with headphones for quieter practice sessions. While more experienced drummers may eventually want additional pads and advanced features, this set provides everything a beginner or intermediate player needs to develop their skills. ## Features - Designed for Beginners - Premium 8-piece electronic drum set with ultra-quiet Alesis mesh heads, revolutionary Drum Module with Bluetooth and built-in industry-leading BFD drum sounds - Genuine Performance Feel - Now bigger 10" dual-zone mesh snare, (3) 8" mesh toms, kick drum tower with pedal and (3) 10" cymbals - ride, hi-hat with foot controller, crash with choke, on a solid foldable rack - Authentic Zildjian cymbal sounds built into the Nitro module - Unlock even more Zildjian sounds and inspiration anytime by downloading new expansion packs in BFD Player or BFD3.5 software - Genuine Feel with Low Noise - All-mesh drum heads deliver realistic rebound and feel without high volume, optimized for focused practice without disturbing family and neighbors - Create and Customize Your Own Kits -Upgraded Drum Module with 32 ready-to-play BFD kits, 16 user-made kits and 440+ drum, cymbal and percussion sounds and multi-velocity samples for a real acoustic drum sound - Your Expansive Virtual Sound Library - Connect to PC/Mac via USB and unlock BFD Player to add-on drum kits and brand new sounds for practice or recording into your DAW - Learn to Play, Your Way - 90-day Drumeo access included; learn from 200+ drummers (Grammy winners to touring pros) with 1500+ songs and interactive lessons at your own tempo - Expanded Creativity - Add your own drum samples or record directly on the Drum Module via USB thumb drive; Connect your Nitro Max to a computer via USB/MIDI and use with any VST or DAW you prefer - Complete Kickstart Kit -Stylish, compact and foldable 4-post drum rack, hard-wearing cable snake, drum sticks, drum key, kick pedal with hi-hat, power supply ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B0C43R8SRB | | Best Sellers Rank | 542 in Musical Instruments & DJ ( See Top 100 in Musical Instruments & DJ ) 4 in Electronic Drums | | Body Material | Aluminum | | Brand | Alesis | | Brand Name | Alesis | | Colour | Red | | Connector Type | Auxiliary | | Country of Origin | China | | Customer Reviews | 4.4 out of 5 stars 2,740 Reviews | | Finish Type | Powder Coated | | Included Components | Drumeo Drum Lessons Card, Nitro Max Drum Kit & Accessories, Nitro Max Drum Module, Quickstart Guide, Safety & Warranty Manual | | Is the Product Left or Right Handed? | Ambidextrous | | Item Dimensions | 61 x 108 x 111 centimetres | | Item Highlight | 10" Dual-Zone Snare, 8" Toms, 10 "Cymbals, Quiet Mesh Heads, Bluetooth, 440+ BFD Sounds, USB MIDI, Drumeo, for Beginners | | Item Type Name | Nitro Max Kit Electric Drum Kit with Quiet Mesh Pads, 10" Dual Zone Snare, Bluetooth, 440+ Authentic Sounds, Drumeo, USB MIDI, Kick Pedal | | Item Weight | 14.5 Kilograms | | Item dimensions L x W x H | 61 x 108 x 111 centimetres | | Item weight | 14.5 Kilograms | | Manufacturer | inMusic Europe Limited | | Material | Mesh | | Model Name | NITROMAXKIT | | Model Number | NITROMAXKIT | | Model name | NITROMAXKIT | | Number of Items | 1 | | Number of Packs | 1 | | Part Number | NITROMAXKIT | | Product Warranty | 12 months manufacturer. | | Set Name | Nitro Max Kit | | Sound Profile | Rich and diverse sound profile | | UPC | 694318026236 | | Unit Count | 1.0 Count | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Alesis - **Colour:** Red - **Item dimensions L x W x H:** 61 x 108 x 111 centimetres - **Material:** Mesh - **Model name:** NITROMAXKIT ## Images ![Nitro Max Electric Drum Kit - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81589Ez7R6L.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: What kind of acessories do I have to buy to have the set operational? I mean cables, amp and things like this?** A: Throne (drum seat), pair of headphones with 1/4" jack or more likely a normal pair of 1/8" headphones + an 1/8" to 1/4" adapter (less than $10 on Amazon. Since this has seperate L and R outputs, I also got a dual L/R 1/4" to single 1/8" steareo adapter to ensure it plays in both ears. Also, I would highly suggest an amp whether or not you plan on using headphones. This thing is very low power and sound is very soft with headohones--plug kit into amp and headphones into amp headphone output. **Q: I cannot place the new model side-by-side and compare. What’s the difference between them?** A: Alesis support here! The only difference between the Nitro Kit and Nitro Mesh Kit is that the Nitro Mesh Kit includes mesh heads, which provide both a more realistic feel to playing acoustic drums, and it also allows for softer sounding hits. If you have any other questions, please feel free to email me directly at mvieira@inmusicbrands.com. **Q: Will this work with the video game Rock Band?** A: For Xbox One and Rock Band 4 you will need an Xbox 360 MIDI adapter and a PDP Wired Legacy Adapter, the latter of which is about $700 due to its rarity. For Xbox 360 and Rock Band 1-3, you just need the MIDI adapter mentioned previously. The MIDI out on the drums plugs into the MIDI in on the adapter, the adapter plugs into the Xbox (or PDP wired legacy adapter for Xbox One) via USB, and then you set specific MIDI notes to the pads via the Alesis module or use a pre-existing setup that works. **Q: How much space is required to set this kit up comfortably for a young player (10)? 3 ft x 3 ft.? 4 x 4? Something in between. And please, I understand** A: Hi, Alesis support here! Nitro Mesh Kit requires approximately 4' x 3' of space once assembled. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Superb compact starter kit for kids—quiet mesh heads and massive upgrade potential! *by A***N on 2 September 2026* User: Starter kit for my son We bought the Alesis Nitro Max as a starter electronic kit for my son, and it has been an absolute standout.
