Can I sit back a bit, or do I have to be right on top of it?** A: It's a dynamic mic, therefore it will not pick up any outside noise. You can easily talk directly into the microphone or 2 to 6 inches away for best quality without any distortion. If you lean back and talk from couple of feet away, you will still be heard but your voice will sound in the distance. They use the ATR2100 for recording podcasts and the audio components of digital stories. The mics are “plug-n-play” for Macs and most Windows operating systems after XP. There are no drivers to install and the microphone will work with almost any software. They just need to be plugged in so that the machine can recognize them.
