Odd Sizing, But A Great Casual Boot

*by J***S on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on March 11, 2016*

These boots are too long, too narrow and too awesome! Weird description of a great pair of boots, I know- but that's how I'd describe them. First, the fit: The sizing is bizarre at best. I wear a 9.5 or 10 in most shoes. Following the advice of other reviewers, I went down to a size 9. I don't own a size 9 in any other shoe, but I'm glad I heeded that advice. Actually, even the 9 is still generously long. I think the 8.5 would still leave plenty of room. At the same time, they are really narrow. I have a narrow foot (can wear a 'B' width sometimes) and my arch is almost hanging out past the sole! The insole is removable- thankfully- so you can insert a custom orthotic. I held up the stock insole aginst the different orthotic insoles I have as I decided which would fit best. The difference in shape was so pronounced. I've never had such a hard time finding one that would work. The Powerstep Original fits- but just barely and only because it's flexible. I'm glad it does, too, because there is absolutely no arch support built into the boot. The rigid type inserts wouldn't work for two reasons: 1- the boot is too narrow and 2- the hard plastic edges would eat through the sole in no time. The sole is unusually soft and foam-like. However, the sole is what gives these boots such an interesting- and amazingly comfortable- feeling. It feels like walking on a gym mat. It's what sold me on them. The fact that they are very good looking boots helped as well. That's really all they have going for them, though. They are great for casual wear on firm surfaces, but nothing more adventurous. Even climbing on the jungle gym in the park with your kids might be the death of them, I fear! I have a favorite pair of Teva hiking boots that have lasted for years- these boots are NOTHING like those. So if you are expecting any serious utility use, you'll be disappointed. However, they are very trendy and comfortable and different- perfect for casual wear. Do I think they will have a long life? No. The tread is melting away pretty quickly already. Would I buy them again? Absolutely! Not at the ridiculously inflated list price, though. However, for under $70 they are fine. I would recommend a good water repellent treatment first thing. I used ReviveX on mine. I think it really helped the look and feel of the leather some too.

Comfortable, well constructed, stylish and good fitting. I liked them enough to buy a 2nd pair.

*by B***L on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on May 30, 2017*

Summary: Stylish, comfortable, very well constructed, great fit, good price, and long-wearing. This is a re-order of my favorite every-day boot. I had purchased a pair at a local shoe store and loved them so I ordered these when the first pair wore out. I had no issue with sizing as I simply ordered the exact size I owned. I have a very wide, square, high-volume foot with a high arch and instep. As such, I have a very difficult time finding shoes and boots to fit me. That said, these boots were very, very comfortable and fit my wide foot as well as anything I've worn in years! If you have a narrow foot, you might have a different experience and I'd suggest trying these on first. I wore these boots many days of the week for about 14 months and I was very impressed with how well they held together and wore. No seam splits, tears or holes. The soles wore a bit faster than I'd prefer and with wear they lost their traction, that's my only knock on these boots. I live in the Pac NW and these boots did well in our wet weather. They are not intended trekking in the Arctic, but for wet urban use in inclement weather they did great. These boots are remarkably light in weight given the size and construction - this added to the comfort of wearing them all day. I like the looks too - even my 20-something y.o. daughters complimented me on them.

    Feels Good.

*by D***S on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on January 24, 2017*

So far so good. This shoe feels very lightweight. If you live in a colder climate, do not expect these to keep your feet warm. The leather uppers feel very soft and nice. The shoes themselves are very comfortable as well. I have a low to medium arch, and the insoles feel okay so far.I have a slightly(and I mean slightly, not enough to warrant a width change) larger then "normal" feet, and the toe box accommodates it very well- there's no pinching or pressure that I notice. I wear a size 9 in mens.Shoe construction feels okay, doesn't scream "quality," but doesn't also say "cheap," either.Shoes are not at all waterproof, but I've bought some snow seal along with the shoes to see if I can't make them function better in rainy/wet conditions. Will update later with results. The soles have very little grip. Maybe if they get roughed up a bit more they'll grip better?
